Posted on 11/10/2004 5:08:15 AM PST by RikaStrom

In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of “word for the day”. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the “word of the day”; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. ;-) Practice makes perfect.....post on....

seriatim \sir-ee-AY-tim\, adverb, adjective:

1. In a series; one after another.

"Two days from the opening of the impeachment debate, gangs of television crews moved through mostly deserted corridors, doling out their 15 minutes of fame seriatim as individual lawmakers stepped up to batteries of microphones."
--The New York Times, December 16, 1998

Etymology: From Latin series, meaning "row, chain," and is formed on the same model as verbatim ("word for word"), literatim ("letter for letter") and gradatim ("step by step")..

Hard to believe that hurricane season isn't over yet-Otto sounds like a stupid name for a hurricane-did Maxine Waters dream it up?

Maybe between now and then he will see the light and change parties...

Never happen. They tried years ago to get his father to switch. He's got one of those legacy or dynasty names like Bush, Chaffee, Romney, Kennedy, and Taft to name a few. And those guys never flip.

Well?

You might "claim" you have note from your mommy for missing class, but the croquettes won't believe it until they can sneak a peek. (Er, see you hand it in to da Teach)

Well, he does make one GLARING mistake.

Michael Moore is a Marxist who has utter contempt for most of his fellow Americans, who goes abroad and tells huge audiences how stupid and venal his country is

That should read...

Michael Moore is a Cynical, Money loving capitalist preening as a would-be Marxist who has utter contempt for most of his fellow Americans particularly the ones he exploits to become fabulously wealthy, who goes abroad and tells huge audiences how stupid and venal his country is, and considering his market share he isn't far from the mark

I remember hearing about Bayh when I was about 8 years old and lived in South Bend(42 years ago). Guess they are part of Indiana folklore.

You are right. Me and a friend have been talking for months about exposing Moore for the capitalist he is. She hates him more than I do.

Don't hate him. Pray that the right set of circumstances comes along to make him a visible tool to show the true face of the political left in this country.

In order to advance the rift that is opening from 2000, to 2004, and seal the fate of the incoherent left, there has to come a moment when one of their established, embraced icons can be palpably shown to be a cynical exploiter of the regular folk.

That is kin to great fear they have over SSI privatization...

The wedges are being set....
