~The Dragon Flies' Lair~Thread XVI~
November 6, 2004 | bentfeather and Poets of the Lair

My Dragon Fly and Me

If I could be a Dragon Fly
and wing my way through the sky
I would never be shy
just me and my Dragon Fly!

By moonlight we ride the wind
chase the comets tail for fun
by day we would hide from the sun
our fragile wings would come undone

On darkest nights we would use
fireflies as our guide
we would dip and we would glide
through the heavens open wide
and scatter diamonds in the night sky
my Dragon Fly and me...

And we would wing past our lovers
silent in the night...
to kiss their face in our flight
much to their surprise and delight
my Dragon Fly and me in sight...

Such a view do we share
away up here in the air
of breezes soft through our hair
my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

Finding is a lot easier than writing it. ;-)

Good morning, Lair! Back to work today, unfortunately. But I hope everyone's off to a great start today!

Love and Sleep
Algernon Charles Swinburne

Lying asleep between the strokes of night
I saw my love lean over my sad bed,
Pale as the duskiest lily's leaf or head,
Smooth-skinned and dark, with bare throat made to bite,
Too wan for blushing and too warm for white,
But perfect-coloured without white or red.
And her lips opened amorously, and said -
I wist not what, saving one word - Delight.

And all her face was honey to my mouth,
And all her body pasture to mine eyes;
The long lithe arms and hotter hands than fire
The quivering flanks, hair smelling of the south,
The bright light feet, the splendid supple thighs
And glittering eyelids of my soul's desire.

Just checking to make sure everyone's awake ... :)

What's the Railroad to Me?

What's the railroad to me?
I never go to see
Where it ends.
It fills a few hollows,
And makes banks for the swallows,
It sets the sand a-blowing,
And the blackberries a-growing.

Henry David Thoreau

LOL!!

Morning Sam!

Man the Colonel gave the Lair a jolt today! LOL

I am loving the tunes! Shangri la and Santa Catalina have been favorites of mine for years.

Nice poem today. Gotta love the old trains.

Well, Sam, today is the 1st, how's it going??

I see the answer to my question is "yes". :)

But what the heck. You take a week off, you gotta make up for it with your first post, right?

Railroads are neat and the trains flatten pennies pretty good, too.
