~The Dragon Flies' Lair~Thread XVI~
November 6, 2004 | bentfeather and Poets of the Lair

My Dragon Fly and Me

If I could be a Dragon Fly
and wing my way through the sky
I would never be shy
just me and my Dragon Fly!

By moonlight we ride the wind
chase the comets tail for fun
by day we would hide from the sun
our fragile wings would come undone

On darkest nights we would use
fireflies as our guide
we would dip and we would glide
through the heavens open wide
and scatter diamonds in the night sky
my Dragon Fly and me...

And we would wing past our lovers
silent in the night...
to kiss their face in our flight
much to their surprise and delight
my Dragon Fly and me in sight...

Such a view do we share
away up here in the air
of breezes soft through our hair
my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

Thank You, LunaRed. It's an old poem, but it seems to be durable as an old quilt.

Old Sarge...

Fare thee well, White Knight,
I hold the candle bright,
shining through the night
that thou doth arrive safe and unscathed

The castle halls remain in dim light
as no moonlight enters her hollow halls
on bended knee we pray for you
long for the day when a dance per chance is in view

So ride the White Steed
be brave to the deed
forget not the need to break bread with friends
swill down some brew as most White Knights do.

Charge forth and beat down the enemy Sir
your night Lady waits for the word of valiant chivalry
and the chance to sweep across the floor
in our perfect dance.

God's speed dear one.

And so it begins, the Grandest Quest,
a passage of arms and a valorous test,
My mount is saddled, my mettle is strong,
the wait for the horn-call is not very long,

And I glance back behind, at the battlements tall,
your frail form cast atop the wall,
so still and silent, not even a hand
raised in token as I leave this land,

But I know your thought and your feeling tonight,
nothing to do or say to make it right,
except that you know why this call rings out
and the answer my spirit cries forth in a shout,

"At last, it has come! At last, here's my chance,
to conquer the demons with sword and with lance!
Through peril and danger, though fire and foe,
my path is to Victory, then Home shall I go!"

Once a Brook

Once a brook, always a brook,
Unfazed by timely change;
If I could stand as near for long,
I’d make a fair exchange:

I’d ease away life’s ups and downs,
And every trouble flee;
I’d spend my days as you, dear brook,
In sweet monotony.

Perhaps I’ll soon regret these words,
Which seem to preach despair;
But for the moment, I’ll linger low
And quaff your lack of care.

The morrow brings reality
And all the mind distressed;
So while the young leap over you,
Fair brook, I’ll have my rest!

I pray someday my visage offers
Just such a quiet look;
Or, at the least, that I may wander,
A-babbling, like a brook.

To all...

Our much loved Old Sarge is Baghdad bound. Sarge leaves his home unit in Kentucky this morning.

May we all remember him in our prayers.
We can expect to see him on occasion once he is settled in Iraq.

(NIGHT PEOPLE) We are night people,you and I. The moon is our sun; it guides us tenderly down billowing lanes' of wonder; to a greater joy than we have ever known. Love twinkles in the stars and flies with the breeze of splendor renewing itself in the longing anticipation of the day, until it is bathed in the sweet golden promise of the dusk.
