Heh...when I was in Europe, about the only English channel we got (besides the Armed Forces Network) was the BBC channel, and a lot of their shows were set in Scotland or remote parts of England. I swear, at least at first most of 'em didn't do me any more good than watching stuff in German! I understood about the same percentage of the dialog...
But I got better at it.

SSQ and I watched a lot of PBS when we were first married. We got used to the various accents from all over Great Britain; Scotland, Ireland, Yorkshire, Wales, North Umberland, whatever!! "All Creatures Great and Small" was one that introduced some really THICK accents, and they were fun to hear.
