Who met his demise
At the hands of his cousin
Who wanted his prize

E is for Eldar
Who love most the stars
Long ago they set sail
To the Western shore far

F is for Fourteen-twenty
Most golden of years
With cream and ripe fruit
And barley for beers

G is for Gandalf
A Maia of old
Enkindling hearts
In a world grown cold

H is for Húrin
Steadfast Edain
Defied Morgoth did he
Enduring great pains

I is for Idril
Beloved of Tuor
Alone of all mortals
To the west he sailed o’er

J is for Jewels
The Silmarils bright
Cursed by an oath
That dimmed not their light

K is for Kili
A companion of Thorin
On adventure they went
Winning gold from the dragon

L is for Lúthien
Beren's beloved
A Silmaril won they
When all others failed

M is for Merry
Brave Hobbit and true
On Pelennor Fields
The Witch King he slew

N is for Noldor
That proud race of Elves
Who spilled their kin's blood
Cursing themselves

O is for Oath
Of Eorl the Young
Fealty kept he
With old Cìrion

P is for Pippin
Soldier of Gondor
Saved Faramir he
From Denethor's pyre

Q is for Quenya
The tongue of the Elves
Spoken ere sun
Or moon did arise

R is for Ring
Of pow'r and dread
Frodo's great burden
On his will it fed

S is for Sam
Friend stalwart and true
A source of sound wisdom
And good rabbit stew

T is for Théoden
Who from the west riding
Saved the White City
From ruin and burning

U is for Ulmo
Lord of all waters
The oceans, the streams
And gentle rain showers

V is for Valar
The Lords of the West
They serve under Eru
And evil they’ll best

W for weed
That fine, blessed toke
There's nothing so fine
As good beer and smoke

X is for X-pert
In Middle-earth lore
I’ve dozens of volumes
In bookcases stored

Y is for Yule
The best time of year
It brings warmth to winter
With fire and good cheer

Z is for Zirak
The Moria mountain
Where Gandalf cast down
The foul bane of Durin
