Yeah, I'm leaving for home on the 18th of December. It really doesn't make sense to go back for Thanksgiving. I'll just stay here, sleep in, catch up on homework, and write.
How long of a break do you get for Christmas?
Ugh...just had two students in a row call with different problems with Win 98 machines. Troubleshooting those over the phone is HARD, 'cause I'm relying on (vey shaky) memory...don't have a system here I can walk through things with to make sure I'm on the same page.
I don't like supporting those things. And the first student wasn't willing to work with me, neither. He couldn't connect to the network, we determined he wasn't getting an IP address, but he said he couldn't possibly try a different cable or network jack, 'cause it's too hard to get to things "back there". Well then...it's too hard for me to help ya, buddy. Sorry.
The second Thanksgiving David was at CMU, I started looking into plane flights home. It was gonna cost over $400! He was coming home within three weeks after Thanksgiving anyway, so I called him and asked if he minded NOT coming home until Christmas. He was relieved that I suggested it because he had several projects due in the week after Thanksgiving and was concerned that coming home would make it harder to get them done. Each year after that, he didn't come home for T'giving, but stayed for 3 weeks at Christmas.
