The Hobbit Hole XVII - A new road or a secret gate...

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

A new road or a secret gate...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Alpaca. Almost as silly as a llama.

That alpaca looks like an anime version of a llama.

Nah...

Ever see "The Emperor's New Groove"? (All right, it's a Disney kids' mocie... but it's a cult classic. Or will be.) Now that was a silly animated llama...

And tell Clare she hasn't been seen here in quite some time...

Yeah, if she doesn't stop by more often, we're gonna revoke her membership...

That was a pretty fun one. I had to be careful not to blow all my credibility by mentioning I have no kids.

I am pleased to announce that I am currently enjoying my first snowfall. It's coming down pretty good, and I am loving every minute of it.

Dude, you have sibs... you have parents... you're qualified to talk. More so than many.

Heh, I never feel hesitant to jump into, say, a homeschool thread.

Anybody getting snow?

It flurried all day but all it did was get the roads wet so I didn't mind too much.

The New Zealander thread started in January '02.

If I recall, we'd all been chatting on each of the hundred or so FoTR review threads ecurbh posted around the premier and through Christmas, so many of us were acquainted at Christmas '01, if that counts, and I think it does!

Snow is good! Too bad you can't ship a snowball back to the desert, I bet they'd like it there too!

Some not too far from us got snow last night, we had rain that was ~almost~ frozen.

But, to be pedantic, we weren't Hobbit Holers yet.

And I think we should date our anniversary to the day of the "New Zealander Builds Hobbit Hole" thread.

Good! Then we have plenty of time for the anniversary party.

Hard to imagine it's been almost a year since Entmoot, isn't it?

Does it seem like it was yesterday? Or a long time ago? I think for me it feels like a long time ago... A lot happened this summer.

And not long now until we moot again :~D

Yeah, I'm jealous of the weddingmoot participants. Sigh... and six months isn't "not long"...
