The Hobbit Hole XVII - A new road or a secret gate...

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

A new road or a secret gate...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

I didn't... I need a muffler, my nose nearly froze off.

I started envying the kid brother from "A Christmas Story" as I stood in the snowbank waiting for the bus...

Kind of like a Fiat, you can hear it, but can't see it!

We were the owners of a cute beige VW bug for a few months. SSQ's Grandaddy had one, and when he died and SSQ went down for the funeral, his Mom let him have it and drive it back to NJ. That's the one we thought was stolen in Ft. Lee NJ during a weekend we were camping with a friend in VT. Turns out, the cops towed it because some high muckety-muck in the police dept. died, and they declare that whole block 'non-parking'. Of course, we had no idea because we weren't there!! Had to go out to some strange dark place at 2 in the morning to ransom the car.

Turns out the car was too small for us, so SSQ took it back to his Mom. Don't know what ever happened to it.

She doesn't still have it, does she??

I'd love a 1966 model...that's my favorite. I prefer the interior. Painted metal dash instead of a black plastic.

I like this red one, but Steve prefers beige.

I just ordered another 25 Hobbit Hole knives, and found out that the dealer is sending back his laser engraver, which was only leased. Said they didn't make enough money off of it.

The good news is that the knives will continue. The bad news (not THAT bad, really), is that we'll have to pay a few bucks more to go back to Highest Honor. We'll still be paying less than our first knives.

I can also try for a bit more of a discount from Highest Honor. After all, they did over 100 for us before knocking off a few bucks. With the present order, we now stand at 356 knives purchased, with every one engraved with one thing or another.

365... wow. That's hugh!

I'm so impressed by what you've done (and I know other people contributed but you really do the lion's share).

NO, she died four years ago, and that bug had been gone long before that.

Hey, I thought of you the other day...

Remember that microware bacon cooker I was looking for? I bought one at the thrift store for 20 cents!

But it doesn't fit in my little micowave. LOL Oh well.
