Eleventh Thread: Wedding Edition: The Hobbit Hole XI - No One Admitted Except on Wedding Business!
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, |
Still round the corner there may wait |
Home is behind, the world ahead, |
OK honey, that sounds good!
Heh, OT, how bout a tree to celebrate thenewhouse?
Hair - crunchy grass - quite a visual.
A ficus is a tree, isn't it?
Well, you are absolutely correct, perhaps I should have said "evergreen or conifer or artificial representation or reasonable facsimile of a conifer or evergreen" :-)
Good morning...
Drat, I'm snowed in. Six inches. Can't possibly get to church... not unless they plow in the next twenty minutes, and that's not likely.
Yup, most are evergreen albeit tropical, some are deciduous IRRC.
Good morning! Or...afternoon here. Doing laundry and cleaning. Even bathed the dogses.
Today is my Freepiversary! *snif* So many good times since then...
Congrats on the snow, BTW...wish we had some! I wanna go snowshoeing, and I'm beginning to think winter'll never come.
Of course, I reserve the right to whine when it DOES...
But I wanted to go to church, it's the first day of Advent *whine*.
Honestly, no snowplow has been by yet. I know the snow is still falling, but the road I face is a pretty decent one. And surely the complex has its own truck-plow?
I'm wondering whether there will be school tomorrow.
I'm guessing the plow'll be by soon, if you have that much on the ground and it hasn't come yet. They sometimes wait here until a little has accumulated, but they don't like to wait tooo long or it's harder to plow.
I haven't seen how they handle snow here yet. At home they'd have been out all night, keeping things clear.
There have been several cars going past. I can't imagine what's that important. The suvs are even having trouble.
We all have sore throats over here. No church this morning for us either.
Oh... drink hot stuff and stay quiet...
We are sort of havign a family day in the bedroom right now. Elf-boy has his comic book, bittygirl is crawling around on the bed, PE is reading a book, and I am playing cards.
hot drinks, yes! I have some throat coat tea that PE and I are drinking. I don't like it very much though. Tastes like licorice.
I cleaned my closet and tidied my living room. Am going to vacuum soon (my vacuum is a horrible little hand-held thing. Wish I had money for a real vac)
In an hour, when I'm sure he's up, I have to call the coworker who lives next door to the CS department and get him to take my backup-tape duty today. If I had snowshoes I might be able to get there...
But it's very pretty to look out my window at this winter wonderland.
Can you get a picture of it for us? We're supposed to get some snow later in the week. I just hope it's not on Saturday or Sunday morning!! Thurs. night or Sun. afternoon would to just fine! Our Holly Fair is on Sat. and Sun, and I want LOTS of customers to come and bring their families so the Girl Scouts can sell lots of crafts and take lost of Pictures with St. Nicholas!!
We've been out in the hole in the backyard digging drainage canals to keep it from becoming a giant muck hole. The ground will freeze in a couple of weeks, but in the meantime, we needed to drain the little lakes that were forming. It is pouring rain, though, so we were almost as wet as the ground. Came in to make a pot of coffee and start lunch. Mmmm. Steaks on the grill.
This one is just my balcony, so you can get an idea how much snow we've got. (I'm guessing at least six inches, from the amount on the chairs)
And this is the best shot I can get from inside. Can't open my door because of the lights!
