New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, |
Still round the corner there may wait |
Home is behind, the world ahead, |
oooh, an honest precious!
Isnt it good to find a church home though?! I know I have probably disappointed my parents, especially after all their hard work of raising me RCC, but because of a vicious priest in college and the lack of interest in the local RCC community in making me an active member of their church, I felt as if I would never be able to figure out just what it was that God put me here for. I mean, I could go to workshops and retreats and all that jazz, but it always felt to Me, at any rate, that it was just a big show I was putting on for people, the kind of thing you do to make people think that you weren't going to be some kind of rebel or anti-Christian.
I can't really put into words just why I find the ACC to be so different for me, but I finally found a home. I dont feel like the odd man out.
It sounds as if you feel that way about your church!! I think ultimately, that's all that's really important. Theology aside, I think being a Christian in a Christian community is about understanding that you are a part of a community. Which I think I am like you: its hard for me to see how someone can feel a part of a community in a mega-church. How does one figure out what they are there for if they are just like every other face in the crowd, or if their only means of spiritual advancement is to attract the notice of higher-ups from the rest of the audience?
oi vey...its hittin hard now...Im babbling in post!!! AAAAAAAAH!!!!!!!!!
LOL! Nah. It is getting late though. I may need to play a few rounds of solitaire to wind down. That is what usually works for me.
My mother keeps wanting me to visit her church. She attends Fellowship Church. It is massive!

she and I had a long talk today about smoking...the nurse at her school was telling the students that the tobacco companies will put different labels on the cigarettes they sell to men than the ones they sell to women. Now tell me : is that looney logic or what? Or am I seeing boogey men in that this is a twisted little lie? The nurse has also been telling them that they dont put enough information on the packages about how dangerous it is, and that 30 years ago, people didnt know how bad cigarettes are.
I pay money to this private school!!! Am I silly to think this is the same kind of silliness she'd get in a public school? Or am I just looking for monsters to slay?
Im not defending smoking as a boon to health...just wondering aobut the kinds of things these people are planting into my child's head. Already, she is getting the idea that people in general are too stupid to think for themselves...ARGH!
You know, in many cases she is correct. A lot of people are too stupid to think for themselves because they are lazy and have fallen into the habit of letting others think for them. Those people believe what all the commercials tell them, and they believe the liberal lies the RATS spout.
Parents and teachers (and school nurses) have a lot of power when it comes to brainwashing children. Your daughter is a smart cookie, and you are right to counter what the nurse had to say. She was out of line! It isn't her job to bias your child in such a way.
elf-boy has come home last week and this week with papers and booklets the kids complete in class regarding safety (hot stove, dangerous chemicals, hazards such as toys left out, etc.). Today, the booklet was about drugs and strangers. Yes, taking "street drugs" are bad, but my son was concerned that the medecine he takes every morning, with my supervision, is bad. I had to redirect that his medicine is a prescription from his doctor, and it is not bad to take drugs that you are supposed to take.
medecine?
Medicine!
goodnight!
nitey night! thanks for letting me blather!
I'm with you on that one.
Although a boat on fresh water on a hot day is a great base for recreational dampening...and the good ones can pull smaller inflated vessels at not-really-dangerous speeds for purposes of glee enhancement...
"Packed like lemmings into..."
I never understood that. Like Lisa Simpson looking at an Australian theater marquee-- Yahoo Serious Festival-- "I know all those words, but I don't understand them!"
I liked Synchronicity, but as with most music I like, it was for how it sounded, not for the lyrics.
That's the sort of thing that'll give you sneezles.
Mornin'
It's Faux Friday!
Here it's Faux Thursday.
I may get a break tomorrow afternoon, but I'll still be going there in the morning.
Also I've volunteered to be the one, if one is needed, to work Friday.
Today's extra credit project: find a taker for my surplus turkey.
I'm taking tomorrow morning off. Youngster has his Thanksgiving program/feast at pre-school.
My cousin/roommate is going to Atlanta for The Day, and taking a week to get back...my church has is Thanksgiving Service at 10:00, after which I will join at least three other cousins, their spice and kinder, and the aunt'n'uncle that started it all, for dinner.
The question remaining, whose house? I'm hoping for the local cousin's house (where my roommate/cousin lived until last month).
coffee.....
Cool. We'll be here with the five of us and a couple of friends from church. We've invited a single mom whose son is in NJ getting ready to ship to Iraq. We don't know her, but were given her name by someone at church.
Gotta run. I still have to go to work today anyway...
Me too. Meh...beats the alternative...
Corin- our Christmas lights are up on the house. We don't do anything fancy... but they're up. The wreath is ready to go on the door Friday morning. :P :P :P Christmas tree and other decorations are ready to go. Bring on the holidays- I'm *ORGANIZED*. That alone should make the world tremble in terror.
be afraid... be very afraid...
