The Hobbit Hole XVII - A new road or a secret gate...

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

A new road or a secret gate...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

I have software I need to install on four computers, but I'm stalling.

Did get in some writing during lunch. There's a part of me that just wants to dig in and write whatever I want to this story, regardless of any logic (heh...when I mentioned I was getting disgusted with it, Dad suggested I have friends or co-workers turn out to be alien invaders...) and as quickly as possible - maybe even try to finish Wednesday so I can do no writing at all during the holiday, or get back to my REAL story.

Huh, give it a shot! I've got to get some action going, I'm just slogging along...

I don't think I like realism. To write, I mean.

At least I tried it. Practice makes perfect, I guess.

Heh, and now you know what you don't like!

I don't like... um... the story I'm writing now. I like bits of it but as a whole I didn't have enough plot. It's got bits that are nice but I kind of wish I'd done something else. Oh well. Something else in December, no?

Well, Good Afternoon, Hobbitses...

Made it back safe last night, and taking the day off for laundry and just lying about.

And treated myself to my first screening of "Return of the King".

I wish I had the chance to see it when it was still in the theaters, but now I can see it whenever I want.

What a nice day...

Are we fully recovered yet? Today looks like a smoother day, but that all could change in a heart beat.

In December I'll print this piece o' junk out and file away - just so I can say I have it, and because some day I may salvage a character or two from it - and then I'll hopefully finish the rough draft to Teresa's fairytale and get THAT printed and maybe bound in some way.

And then...well, I have an idea for a science fictiony / fantasy sort of thingie. I'll probably wait until January, but I think *that* may actually have potential. I'll likely be singing a different song when I'm 15k or so into it, but hey...that's one thing NaNo has been good for - I KNOW there are ups and downs, but it's possible to keep slogging even when the story is crap...and if it actually has some promise it's worth slogging for! ;-)

I feel a lot better today! And your group?

We are fogged in today, but none of the predicted rain yet. How's the rest of your week looking?

Oh, absolutely. You just have to keep at it. I have several ideas for what to do next... I think a more SF-y piece.

Practice makes perfect!

SOme of them went out last night after our dinner and are having trouble today. I decided to conquer my jet lag and was fast asleep at 9:30. Week is looking good, so hopefully we get some time to meet your horses.

Of course we laughed, he didnt seem to like the taste of that McDonalds breakfast anymore though. He of course blames it on a bad cup of army coffee, but we all know the truth.

And the question we all must answer...

At which point did you start crying?
