Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
A new road or a secret gate...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

I liked that movie, but it's been forever since I saw it. I should see if the library has it...
I've been getting movies from the library at the college most weekends lately. Free is good! Most are VHS - they have very few DVDs - but I think that's worth the trade-off.

Me either, but I only have three episodes I've never seen. I want something new and exciting. Bleh.

I still have Full Moon.
I should probably at least get in another 500 words first, though.
Ugh...it's cold in here.

I cancelled our walmart club subscription...I can get most movies from our local library!
We've watched Sgt. York and Herbie the Love Bug just recently...from the library...free IS good!

Yeah, I know it...but when I buy computer carp, it's something geeky like a USB external DVD writer or the like :)

But it's still important to have a decent keyboard!

If I bought newspapers I might see those. But newspapers are so... 20th-century.

Heh, and then you'll feel like you really accomplished something, won't you?
Only brick-and-mortar stores that aren't overrated are bookstores. I like to be able to read in a comfortable chair for two or three hours, or browse the stacks.

And I can stash it away to laugh at in coming years. I had completely forgotten that I printed out the first NaNo novel I did until I came across it when I was rearranging my bookshelves. I didn't reread the whole thing, but did parts. Some of it was better than I remembered...but a lot wasn't. Heh...
Yeah, bookstores rule! There's nothing that can replace browsing a nice bookstore. In my case, used bookstores are my very favorite. Man, I love the smell of those places! And I especially like 'em when they're just the teensiest bit disorganized, so I can feel like I've accomplished something when I track down something wonderful in a pile.

Used bookstores are lovely. The ones here are too organized for their own good, though.

Organized used bookstore SHOULD be an oxymoron, IMO.

Yep...but when they cost $6.00 for three months...and you split that with your roommate...20th Century doesn't seem too bad :)

Best. Bookstore. Ever.At least it was circa 1978.
'Twas there I took my little pocket money to feed my Hardy Boys jones, and there I bought my first Hobbit and LotR and dreamed of Silmarils.
There were at least three above-ground levels, and two below ("the dungeon", where the old odd books slumbered).
I'd go back today if I could...if only to see how the years have treated it.
