The Hobbit Hole XVII - A new road or a secret gate...

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

A new road or a secret gate...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Would you recommend The Incredibles for a four and a half year old? There's nothing out there currently that I'd feel comfortable taking her to see.

Good news to know he's finalyl state-side!

If New Jersey smells like Iraq, I dread to think what Detroit smells like...

It might be a little intense for someone that young, but... nothing really objectionable. I think it's really intended for a slightly older audience, but if she doesn't get freaked out easily it should be ok.

"but if she doesn't get freaked out easily it should be ok."

She LOVES...loveslovesloves...the charge of the Rohirrim in ROTK. She thinks its hysterical when the Orcs freak out and run away under the charge of heavy horse.

"Dad...look...the monsters are scared! Bunch of fraidy-cats! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Go horsies GO!!!"

I just may take her to see it next weekend then - thank you for the info.

Now, is this part of that Writer of the Month thing I've heard about? Or am I way off track?

National Novel Writing Month, yep!

We're down to the last week, really, so it's crunch time.

Eh...I think it'd probably be over her head. There's nothing really bad in it, but it is a bit scary in parts, and the plot is a little hard for a younger kid to follow.
