Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
A new road or a secret gate...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

What to do, what to do?
Our 18th Wedding Anniversary is Monday. We'll likely be in rehearsals. But I need to get a gift.
We did the traditional gifts for a while. But there is nothing listed for the 18th year. Still, I don't think that gets me off the hook.
The "modern" gift is porcelein. But I ain't buyin' another terlet...

Um... how about a new set of china? Better than a toilet, anyway...
Or you could get a banned toilet, the not-low-flow sort. Think she'd appreciate that?

Oh yeah, just something else for Nana or Luke to break...
Don't need more china. We pretty much use our stoneware all the time.
'Cept Nana and Luke get plasticware.

I'll be easy if this every happens for me. I love flowers and chocolate and I doubt I'd ever get tired of getting either one. Not that tricky.
Gonna go out to eat later one or something? To make up for being in rehearsals that night?

After 18 years (most of 'em good), it's gotta be a little more than flowers and candy. I'll do some flowers.
But I have to think of something "significant." Even if it's small.

ecurbh is trying to learn how to to Flash animation and I've been out cleaning stalls and puttering in the barn...
Gidget has been up under the tarp on the hay looking for mouses. I had to lift the tarp up to take the picture, she looked like a mole in a cartoon moving around under the tarp. :~)

Waiting for the call from smaagee with the schedule.

Jewelry is small but signifigant... Or, um, small furry animals. Or... darn it! You could just do a really nice dinner out and maybe a show of some sort?
What a morning. Good thing it's almost over. An hour until class, then we high-powered graduate school chicks are going out to lunch and an afternoon movie to kick off break.
Hah. Break. They get to go home. I get to work. On Thanksgiving. And I don't get turkey, either, but I'm making a Cornish Game Hen so I don't feel totally deprived.

Hello again, everyone!
Long day, can't wait for the weekend!
To: JenB; HairOfTheDog; g'nad; All
It needs to be significant, but small in price.
Last year for Christmas I got her a certificate to a day spa. She ain't had time to use it yet...
If I ask her what she wants she'll say "I want to get away."
And I'll say, "You're the one that don't want me to keep a gun in the house..."
