Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
A new road or a secret gate...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

I draw the line on killing goats though. Messy business that. ;)

Just finished chapter 2 of Wrinkle. Matthew is really loving it, it's a tad above Joshua's head but like you say, it develops the vocabulary...causing them to use the word "gasped" in a sentence! LOL He's got the idea of the story and gets credit for it for the Pizza Hut Book Club if he sits quietly and listens.

Yes, it would be fun, a nice setting there.
We may be away, though.
How often does the event take place there?

Cool post number, Mr Orwell!
I don't watch On The Record anyway, thank God. It's so dreadfully dull.

That sacrificing goats part was from the Novell Netware 3.11 troubleshooting manual. After restoring the server from tape, you had to sacrifice the goat with a virgin blade made from the motherboard of an original PC XT... at exactly the moment that the Novell Splash screen came up.
Timing was everything.
It's all much easier now. :-)

I don't know when they'll be asked to play again. The owner calls and they show up and I try to get babysitting. *laughing*
I've got the babysitting taken care of, so now I move on to the next step which is calling everyone and inviting them. *grin*

g'nite folks.
Fitness Dwarf is going to try to make it in the a.m. He won't if he's feeling like he is now...
It's gotta be the dust and the animals. Nothing else makes sense.

But of course! The Space Trilogy is the only science fiction that my mom owns. I must have read them a hundred times... my favorite is "Perelandra" because of the symbolism. Just gorgeous. Though there are some bits of "That Hideous Strength" which I will never, ever forget.
Ugh. Monday is OVER! I am going to have a long, hot bath, with candles and my new book and just relax.

No wonder it never worked for me! I was trying to strangle the goat with a USB cable so I could avoid the blood.

Good night Corin!
You should book a flight and spend some time in sunny Florida. Maybe sit next to the water a spell and breathe in the salt air.
Saturday night would be good, BTW. ;-D
