Word For The Day, Wednesday, November 3, 2004
The Verbivores | 11/3/04 | Teacher

Posted on 11/03/2004 5:11:30 AM PST by RikaStrom

In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of “word for the day”. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the “word of the day”; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. ;-) Practice makes perfect.....post on....

schadenfreude \SHAHD-n-froy-duh\, noun:

1. A malicious satisfaction in the misfortunes of others.

If self-replicating e-commerce baby tycoons get on your nerves, it's schadenfreude time. It's true that the Nasdaq rebounded after its staggering loss Tuesday. Nonetheless, what AP described as "the most volatile day ever for U.S. stocks" left a distinctly bearish aftertaste.
--"Market Motion Sickness." The Industry Standard's Media Grok, April 5, 2000

Etymology: German, from Schaden, damage + Freude, joy. It is often capitalized, as it is in German.

Are you referring to Chris "the Jews control everything" Heinz??
If he was there, nobody mentioned it.

Good questions Mik.

Even though sKerry still has a "job" to go back to, is he going to continue with his non-appearance attitude that he's taken for the last 20 years?

So who is the first Dim Senator to stwitch parties now. I've got the board set at:
Nelson (NE) 2 to 1
Nelson (FL) 3 to 1
Lieberman (CT) 5 to 1

Hah!

Just get somebody to bet against "Nelson" with modest odds, but don't let him/her know that two Nelsons are potential Jeffords.....

Then bet the opposite way: Either one of your two Nelson's does change (and you win), or the wrong "Nelson" (who he bet for) doesn't change (and you win), even if one does change, or wrong "Nelson" doesn't change, and you win, even if one doesn't change.

I thought it was tacky that sKerry took so long to concede-I could just imagine he and the ambulance chaser trying to find a way to litigate and stall until hell froze over-I suppose some adviser told them to get real, finally. I also thought he was a total hypocrite to talk about unity when it was he and his coterie of bazillionaire celebrity backers that filled this whole campaign with hate and division in the first place-what an ass****...
