I am new at this and I have on question. What does "Vanities" mean?

    Posting a vanity means that someone started a whole new thread that did not revolve around a news story. Often, a vanity will be a question to other FReepers or just a story or something like that. What you posted was a vanity...

    LOL! I asked the same question when I was new here (not that long ago) and got alternately clobbered and answered kindly. 
 
So... as another newbie, I'll tell you what they told me: Vanities are posts that are about yourself and not really about the news, such as your opinions. And... this is the real kicker... they are highly disliked, frowned about, and can get you a good trashing!
