Probably something other than an umbrella,,, I'd suggest a slicker (Walmart $18.00) Only men in suit and tie use umbellas in Iowa.

You'd better pack your long pants. The rain makes for a damp chill this time of year.

Cabella's rain suits are totally acceptable, too.

(Pontiac - AP, October 28, 2004, 7:33 a.m.) President Bush has fired up thousands of his Oakland County fans, who waved cardboard "W" cutouts and red, white and blue pompoms during an evening rally at the Pontiac Silverdome. "I'm asking you to get your friends and neighbors to vote," Bush told the enthusiastic crowd Wednesday night. "Make sure you don't overlook discerning Democrats like our friend Zell Miller." Miller, a Democratic senator from Georgia, appeared with the president and First Lady Laura Bush.

The rally drew about 20,000 people, one of the best turnouts of his campaign. rest of story

____________

Okay, what's the real number in attendance? Considering AP overestimates Kerry's crowds by a factor of at least three, I'm guessing there were a lot more than 20,000 in Pontiac. Further, Bush has spoken to several crowds well in excess of the 20K the Associated Press grudgingly acknowledges.

That he's now campaigning for Kerry would indicate his experience wasn't enough to bring him to a point of repentance, sadly.

My thoughts exactly.

[PageSix] Sightings: Bobby Thomson, at Langan's looking for The Post's Steve Dunleavy to thank him for his moving front-page column about sending his son Peter off to war . . .

Effin' wearing a Red Sox cap on the stump today. Crossing my fingers Vanessa doesn't come up with her own warped way of congratulating the Sox.

It could have been somewhere between 20-30,000. That place was jammed packed.

I screwed that PageSix post up royally, it should be...

BROOKLYN Dodgers pitcher Ralph Branca, who served up the famous home run ball to the Giants' Bobby Thomson, at Langan's looking for The Post's Steve Dunleavy to thank him for his moving front-page column about sending his son Peter off to war . .

Sheesh on me!

Thanks - I know better than to take the AP's word for anything at face value. BWB, oh my gosh! Heaven help us if Vanessa moves to a section of skin previously unseen for her new Red Sox message.

is that new threat video going to be a big deal?

I think this answers your question:

One senior federal official alleged ABCNEWS is now holding back from broadcasting any portion of the video out of fear it will be seen as a political move by the network during election week.

One ABC source, who demanded anonymity, said Thursday morning, the network was struggling to finding the correct journalistic "balance."

"This is not something you just throw out there while people are voting," the ABC source explained.

Yes W has had many, many crowds of 20,000 plus...maybe they meant in Michigan it is a record? He is in Saginaw MI today and the crowds look at least as big as yesterdays...

I am beginning to think that Kerry has a serious balloon fetish..

Way too many photos of him in his goofy Sox hat...I liked this one because it shows off his false teeth,,hee hee

Well I tried to go vote today. The wait in line was 90 minutes. I only managed to complete 45 of it and then my 16 month old decided it was time to go. I heard the precinct workers say that 250K have voted in Harris Co (Houston) already. Very heavy turnout.

FROM A SOURCE CLOSE TO THE CAMPAIGN (GOOD NEWS FOR BUSH)

Michigan is seriously looking like a pickup - Bush and Cheney could be there four times in the last four days.

Good for you HLL!

I've been filling in for you on the "sending stuff to the troops" project. We've been collecting locally and will take a full truckload to a packing party tomorrow near Seattle.

Nice photo here:

I had to wait in line for an hour too...it was not true early voting though, it was for folks who have a problem. My problem is I have to go out of town unexpectedly next week and did not request a mail-in ballot.

Well, my problem was easily solved but boy you would not believe some of the problems folks have voting; mostly through their own fault (i.e. "I didn't get a ballot"..."Well did you register"..."Oh do you have to register?"...lol...On the one hand it was heartening to see so many trying to exercise their right to vote; on the other, you have to wonder if they are informed enough to vote.

Does Zachery have a button to wear when you go back?

I'm just now catching up on the thread - been down in Texas helping plan the parents 50th wedding anniv party.

RE: your post on Al Qa Qa or whatever it's called -- the post mentions vials of atropine. The ONLY reason to have vials of atropine around is to counteract the effects of certain nerve agents.
