Hi, I'm an independent and I'm newly zotted.

Hi, I'm new here. I'm an independent so not all of my views are conservative in nature. Am I welcome to post here? Is this is this the appropriate (general/chat) forum to post this in?

Thus, the $1,000 the millionare gets back from a tax cut, goes to support the salary for a job that an unemployed person can get. That person in turn makes more than his salary for his business and the investor takes a share of that profit. The more money that goes to taxes rather than investment is the more money that is missing in making new jobs. This is a good point. Independent5, what do you think rich people DO with their money, and why do you think the government will do anything better with it? [Note that I think it's irrelevant -- it belongs to the owner, regardless of who can or will use it the most effectively.]

I don't now how to answer that question.Sure you do, but you won't because it gives you away.
What defines ownership?
My money, the fruits of my labor. The money I make honestly.
Are you talking material goods or what?
All of it, my stuff, my property, my money. C'mon lefty, hurry and answer while you still have posting privileges, your time is growing shorter than you think.

Did you vote for Howard Dean in the primaries?

Sloth,
Of course everyone is different and uses their money differently. Sometimes the government does something better with their money than they do. Here's a ridiculous example: Rich guy buys a corvette just to watch it get smashed. Government would have given that money to better education.
Here's the real question that's in my mind on the issue:
Is it better for society to let the top 1% use their tax-cut money however they wish, or have the government spend it. I don't know the answer to that. I know that you say: "It doesn't matter, its not the government's money to begin with," to which I want to agree, but I think that's too simplistic of an outlook. Objective morality is based on the survival of the human community. Which means that's something we ought to work for -- we ought to try and do the best we can to help the human community.

okay - start singing "we are the world" and there will be a fight. No where in your "help me figure this out" about the use of taxation or property do you even consider the issue of accountability. Sure rich guy may buy the corvette to see it smashed - but does government expenditure on a program that is inefficient or serves only to perpetuate even bigger government constitute a wise use of funds to help humanity. This is getting really deep - and i do not mean in terms of intellectually

Nobody, you know, gets paid to build them or anything.

I have to admit, this guy has been able to work the slowest zot ever during an election year. Amazing how long he has lasted.

Protagoras,
Sure you do, but you won't because it gives you away.
You already think I'm something that I'm not, what good would it do to hide something from you? I was being honest. I don't know how to answer that question as it was posed.
My money, the fruits of my labor. The money I make honestly.
That money belongs to you. But if you want any government services, then you need to contribute money to the government.
To: independent5
By the way, saying that more money = better education really does make you sound like a troll.
