Hmm,don't know what you are reading my friend. I can't say I share your opinion. I've seen plenty of good stuff, and yes,,some handwringing. We have quite a diverse group. I'm a new member so don't let me be the spokesperson.

Are you feeling discouraged?

In the past few weeks we've been inundated with a mass of conspiracy theories, hand-wringing doom sayers, and vanity after vanity.

You were OK until you got to the point of bitching about too many vanities by posting another vanity.

Election season. Par for the course, especially this one where both sides have so much tied up in it emotionally.

It's called election season.

I love this forum and I don't want to turn into an over-regulated bore like Lucianne.

It's called free speech!

Happens every election cycle.

I remember 2000 and 2002 were like this.

Its a close election....there is usually vote fraud on one side....the Democratic candidate is worse than Clinton. Those three things are enough to concern anybody greatly.

If you don't like the selection you're seeing, post something good or interesting that you've found.

I remember 2000 and 2002 were like this.

I think the worst of all-time was the invasion of the McCainiacs.

It's a stressful, eventful period, this election season, and a lot of that fills the posts.

That, plus the notoriety FR has achieved following the SeeBS incident, has brought in a lot of newbies that are responsible for many of the content-free vanities, and quite a bit of the trolling.

And I'm doing my best to keep the signal-to-noise ratio as low as possible with my useless, inane comments. :-)

Uuuuunnnnnnghh.

Here at Free Republic, we are allowed to speak freely whether we agree or disagree. I signed in at the DU Underground and made several posts trying to educate the uneducated. I was polite, and accurate. Within 2 days, my login was pulled. Talk about Nazi tactics.

I'll be the spokesperson for myself. I go to freerepublic.com daily TO BE ENCOURAGED. I agree that some people post stuff that makes me say: "I didn't need to know that." i.e. all the voter fraud stories etc. But, I still find a lot of encouragement here. Yesterday I printed out a post to read when I start getting a little "down" b/c the Dims are doing everything they can to steal this election.

BTW, I don't recognize the screen name of the discouraged party who posted this thread; don't recall ever seeing it before but who knows.

Well, we has some concern about Kerry's MSM "surge" because our W did not do so well in the first debate, but now that our beloved W is on top and our revered Cheney put the Breck Girl in her place, we are reassured that Bush will win. It is true that we follow every poll daily and sometimes you can even become vertiginous from so many numbers, but the FR is on the forefront of all the news about this critical election. We are now ready for the final push and we'll take every poll one at a time but always confidentthat at the end of the day Bush will be on top.

Better stock up on 'Happy Pills'.
It might get worse after the election when the lawsuits start.

* Election time draws near

* Lots of new users, many of whom mistake FR for a chat room

* Some DU trolls, but the level of sophistication is unimpressive

And mid October of 2001 we got a lot of the same and some of them stuck around.

People are worried and reacting to it in different ways. Some are trying to frighten others into voting. Personally I'm an optimist.
