I know exactly who the Cheney daughter comment is aimed at. It's aimed at my CHRISTIAN traditional conservative Democratic family members in N. Carolina and others like them.
They are in real turmoil over all of the moral issues they have to ignore in order to vote Democrat. The best argument that can be mustered for their protection has always been to say to me: "The Republicans do it to."
Abortion, family, self-protection, patriotism, etc.....they always say to me. You've got Republicans that do that, too. (Anything from adultery to support for abortion.)
The gay marriage amendment was a quandry for them EXCEPT now Kerry has pointed out to them that they can say, "See...Republicans do that, too."
So they now convince themselves that these guys all believe the same things and would do the same things and there's no difference.
The big difference for them: Grandpa always said to vote for Democrats 'cause they're for the little guy.
In other words, their voting habits are a type of ancestor worship.
Yeah and I'd tell 'em that my Grandpa wouldn't use indoor plumbing because he thought it was unsanitary...and ask 'em where there outhouse is.
I don't have to worry about most of my family, except for my stepdad. He was a Goldwater Republican until the unions brainwashed him. Out of respect for my mom I (usually) refrain from telling him how wrong he is.
Typical mean, nasty, bigoted mindset of the left.
Did you hear Rush Limbaugh regarding Kerry's mention of the Cheney's lesbian daughter in the debate ? He basically said it was an attempt to let the "Religious Right" know their daughter is lesbian in hopes to make them stay away from the polls. What do you think? Would they stay away from the polls because they found that out or would they go to the polls if they knew what his goal was ?? Truth never hurt anybody. If they knew that they were staying home to help elect a POS like Kerry, might they show up ??
I think Rush felt that this would be just one more thing that would backfire on Kerry again .....
