I noticed the moderator was the only one laughing as well. However, John Kerry's admittance to being a Gold Digger was pretty funny. It wasn't a laugh machine; it was a natural response.

I don't remember any laughter for Kerry.
Perhaps you heard people laughing nervously at his discomfort.
Or perhaps you heard the sounds of SchadenFreunde.

The moderator was faking his laugh. The audience laughed at Bob's stupid giggling. That's why the delay.

What I noticed was Scheifer's bizarre giggling jag. He truly embarrassed himself.

Your honest thoughts- are Kerry and the dems honestly trying to win this race? Did they really think that a Massachusetts liberal who makes Ted Kennedy look mainstream could beat Bush? After how badly pappy Bush whomped the liberal Massachusetts Governor in 1988?

Could Dubya truly perform as badly as he did in debate #1 and as dominantly as he did in debate#3?

IMO, every presidential debate (or candidate speech, for that matter) needs a laugh track.

Bush's mike was turned down due to the feedback in the begining.

That is why the laughter sounded louder with Kerry.

I think at first everyone was shocked at his answer, then the forced laugh because it was such an uncomfortable silence and I think Dubya might have made a comment or face (like..."Uh oh")

I noticed this also. After I had to endure the fake laughing by the moderator, I guess we were then treated to forced laugher by the dem section, lol.

There's a difference between laughing with someone, and laughing at them. Given the odd response and the akward delay, it seems like more of the latter.

They just didn't get the irony of his statement at first. Maybe even he didn't realize what he said until after he said it. You did, and I laughed when he said it first, but the audience didn't get it until he said "me more than you" and "it's ok I can take it" (referring to how they all married up).

I don't have the time to read all the threads.....BUT, did anyone catch the ludicrous comment from Kerry about us capturing a document in Iraq. I'm sure that document is behind bars, never to hurt anyone again.

Several seconds passed by then the moderator laughed...I think Scheiffer was first shocked, then laughing at Kerry's stupidity in essentially throwing in the face of the entire country that he, the champion of the common man, had "married up" better than anyone else when he caught himself a billionairess.....

Yes, I did. The sound of the laughter sounded canned. Not sincere. I only heard the CBS moderator laugh and then all of the sudden was this sound of half-hearted disjointed laughter.

John Kerry insulted his wife in the view of millions by saying what he did about "marrying up". Compared to President Bush's deep and adored response to his wife and daughters and the compliments he paid them came from a man's heart. Talk about an arousal gap. President Bush above all things is happily joyously blessedly in love with his wife and is a proud protective father for his daughters.

Even John Kerry's botoxed face could not hide his utter souless answer to how he feels about his wife. Marrying up?
