Chris Mathews just stated that Cheney and Edwards have met prior to tonight Evidently they met at a prayer breakfast. The only reference I can find to this might be this link http://edwards.senate.gov/press/prayer_breakfast_2002.html

Houston we've got a problem.
All I can say, is that if Cheney and Edwards have EVER met at any time in the past, it certainly was not very memorable on the part of Cheney. Edwards probably only knew Cheney by recognizing his face from being on TV.
This is coming from Edward's wife. She apparently told Cheney that he met him there.
Maybe she's right, if it was a breakfast, she'd remember it, and it's not like she's missing any free meals. Regardless, the damage is done. Boo Hoo.

Even if what you say is true, they never met ON THE JOB! That's because Edwards doesn't bother to show up for work, and neither does Kerry. How does that make them qualified to speak for working Americans?
The key idea is that Edwards is largly AWOL in the Senate. VP Cheney made that point effectively.
Just the dems trying to spin out of one of the more devasting debate lines since Quayle/Bensen. If they had met, Edwards would have hit back at Cheney during the debate. Even if they were at some breakfast together, so what? The fact is Edwards and Kerry have been AWOL from the senate. This was just Cheney's effective way of making the point. The point is still valid. That is what people will remember. Spin away my dem friends, spin away. Cheney won big tonight and no amount of dem spin will change that.
Using that logic, every swift boat vet that met Kerry but wasn't on his boat had the right to talk about his "service".
Don't you think Edwards would have pointed that out if true? That line eviscerated him; he wouldn't let it stand if he could have countered it.
It doesn't look good if the wife has to defend her husband's whereabouts on the job.

If that were true, why didn't Edwards correct the record? Obviously it wasn't significant enough in his own memory, if it really occurred, to have made a difference. Being in the same large meeting at the same time does not mean they met.
Was it at Wendy's?
My understanding is that the VP said he hadn't seen Edwards in the senate.
Edwards is claiming the sat next to eachother for about two hours at this prayer breakfast. ????
