The Hobbit Hole XVI - Still round the corner there may wait...

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Still round the corner there may wait...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

I've never seen that show, either. I've heard it was pretty good, though.

Heh...a more science fictiony Groundhog Day? Sounds intriguing!

It's a pretty good show! It originated on Showtime, then got picked up by SciFi. SciFi shows all the reruns, and of course it's on DVD as well.

BTW... to get out of the loop, the two had to learn Latin in order to help another character translate an inscription on the alien artifact that screwed up the stargate in the first place. Then they had to convince an alien scientist to not activate the artifact...

And it then takes at least fifteen shots before the shields get to 10%.

You'd think they would have included some circuit breakers or at least fuses in the design, too...

I hadn't seen it before... and poking around the author's website I started to wonder whether the guy's a Freeper...

Ah... a nice movie helps studying so much. I'm watching a good one... "Oh Brother Where Art Thou". Just past the "We thought you was a toad" bit.

I have always enjoyed stories which are adapatations of other stories. I like recognizing elements and waiting to see how they interpret this point or that point - and it's a fun sort of thing to write, too.

I like stories like that too... but sometimes, the author is a little too clever for me, and I miss the hints. I wind up feeling like there was something to a story that I *should* have gotten, but didn't...

Heh, true, which is why I prefer straight adaptations to just allusions.
