Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Still round the corner there may wait...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Ahh....
I really hope Steve gets a deer this year...I would love to do an anatomy study with the jedis...
To: g'nad
Thanks. That's good to know.
I absolutely love my 700 in .270, (although the last few times I went out I used black powder).
But that 700 in .270 just feels *right* when you pick it up...I favor it over everything else I own, next in line being my over under SKB 12 gauge with 26" barrels, which also feel pretty right.

I'm baking bread...just in my bread machine, though. Just a simple egg bread...see how it does. I need two room temp eggs though and I only had the one that Roy laid this morning. So I'm waiting for Jar Jar to get done...she's in the nest box now.
2/3 cup milk
2 large eggs
2 tablespoons margarine or butter, softened
3 cups bread machine flour
2 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons bread machine yeast
To: RosieCotton
Ha! Perfect timing! I went out to check to see if she'd laid the egg yet and I caught her in the act! Got the egg just now, seconds old.
Happiness is a fresh warm egg! LOL

What an awesome idea, winmag!! He'll be honored to have it, I'm sure!

Well, if a little knife makes his "flock" feel better, a big knife has to be even better. So, with our usual ingenuity, I have developed the "economy sized" Hobbit Hole knife for special members of our armed forces. Here's a photo, with one of our regular knives for comparison.

Yeah, it's supposed to be a great weekend for gardening. I'm avoiding buying any more bulbs cause we're going to be doing some landscaping changes next year.

I ALMOST bought a bread machine the other day, at a garage sale. But...as infrequently as I make it, I'm not sure I'd use it enough to justify the space they take up! Plus I LIKE kneading dough...
The bread yesterday came out vey good! And all whole grain, too...I even added some flax!

I've been Hardware Girl this morning! Swapping memory, swapping disks... I need canned air, all the machines are so dusty it's giving me a headache.

Ugh...I hate hardware.
Canned air, on the other hand, is fun. We keep LOTS of it on hand. Handy stuff, that.
My boss also discovered you get a cool ice sculpture effect if you turn it upsidedown and spray it with the nozzle submerged in a cup of water...

How, dare I ask, did he discover that?
As long as I don't have to do it too often, hardware's ok.
