The Hobbit Hole XVI - Still round the corner there may wait...

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Still round the corner there may wait...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Shouldn't you be lookin' for a red one, in that case? Just going by your tagline, here...

LOL I doubt the one we get will even RUN! Steve wants to get one real cheap and get it running...work on it in the shop, you know? We have a really nice shop...A/C, heat, carpeted. I could set up a nice little hang-out for the guys out there, put the little microwave out there, a little fridge, TV. They could just hang around while Steve worked.

To heck with that! Steve can teach them Auto Mechanics!! We're gonna teach "Residential Construction" in our homeschool over the course of the next couple of years. ;o)

Yeah...that's the idea! LOL They'll be interested (hopefully) in what Dad is doing and Steve can get them to help him with stuff.

Anyway, that's the dream.

Hullo...

The boss just left on vacation. I ask you, who goes to Alaska in late October? Isn't that a little weird?

And, sigh, the professor I was hoping would be my advisor says while ordinarily he'd be glad to, he may be leaving the university... back to square one... but he did say I have a lot of talent and should have no trouble getting an advisor...

I really should get some things before winter.

Hmm...me too. Guess I'll have to buy a snow shovel.

The idea of not being able to get my window down so I can swim out of my car is just horrifying to me! LOL

Attach to your key ring or seatbelt buckle. Shrouded seatbelt cutter and spring-loaded striker for shattering tempered safety glass side windows. Price around $12.

Usually bow hunters are shooting at close enough range to certainly identify their target, but I worry about riding my tan horses out in the woods this time of year, regardless.

Marl braids dayglo orange streamers into manes and tails. If you want to be fancy, try rosettes. :)

Works better than what my suggestion would be; paint the horse fire-engine red and carry bells.

Sniff - that is just beautiful. Succinct and well phrased. Kudos.

Good evening...

I finished the assignment that's due tomorrow so other than general midterm studying I'm sort of free tonight. So I'm going to spend some time trying to understand what three of the faculty actually research, since my search for an advisor has kinda been reset...

Steve's advisor quit and went to another school last year and he had to get another one. I like this one better...things really started to move when he got this new guy!

Oh, man... that's bad when that happens. But I'm glad it worked out. Only now I've gone from four potentials, one of whom I was certain would take me on, to three, and I don't know any of them. I guess I know who's classes I'm taking next spring, huh?

300wmag; that is a VERY appropriate key fob. I can attest to the fact that seat belts latches get jammed in accidents quite often.

Until one gets in the car, a nail set will work for the window. The HH knife will work on a seat belt. But yours seems a better idean. Thanks for posting.

Ever have one of those weird moments where you suddenly realize something you've known all along?

It just occurred to me that I'm a gubmint employee. Ack! I'm contributing to John Kerry's statistics on "lost private-sector jobs"!
