The Hobbit Hole XVI - Still round the corner there may wait...

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Still round the corner there may wait...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Yep, that's the first opening! It's a nice one.

The good news is, while I still don't have a WriMo plot fleshed out, I do have a good secondary writing project. Found some names and am starting to just write. But the code and such somehow gets in the way...

Norwich and Lebanon are about the same distance away (Lebanon is maybe five minutes difference), so I'm OK with either. I've never been to Norwich...how late is the King Arthur store open? That might be fun to visit...and I imagine there are restaurants near there, no? I'm not at all familiar with the town, unfortunately.

I'm having fun with my secondary writing project! (SWP?) It just keeps getting more convoluted, but that keeps it interesting. I've been carrying a notebook around so I can work on it whenever I have a few spare moments. I'm getting better at writing on the fly without worrying about perfection. Warming up for WriMo, doncha know...

I'm glad to hear that!

Hmmm... I wonder when this "Last Exile" anime was made... because either they stole a race scene from "Star Wars: Episode 1" or George Lucas stole it from this show...

I hear ya, sis.

I'm off to bed myself, but wanted to get caught up first!

Good night Hobbit Holers!

I don't remember Episode 1 well enough to recognize stolen scenes if I saw 'em...and I'd prefer to keep it that way. Yeesh, what a stinker!

OK, time for bed. Wish I didn't have to work tomorrow.

The boss is gone allllll week. That means no classes (hurray!), but as far as work goes, I'm not sure if it's good or bad. Does mean I can prolly write when it's slow...

Well, the podrace was about the only mildly cool part of the entire series....

I think, one more episode and I'll do some writing... good luck on yours. No classes, how great! You'll have time to finish the lovely Fullmetal Alchemist series...

So what WAS the anime?
Escaflowne is technically Shojo but it is one of those cross over series that appeals to both.

Last Exile is pretty recent. I don't consider the race sequence originally enough for anyone to be able to 'steal' it but I am sure the people making Last Exile saw Ep 1 before they made it. That show is darn good. I have all that is out so far on DVD.... no wait one came out last week and Best Buy did not have it....
Blast! Trixy hobbitses... they wants it all to themselves...

If you guys see that I pinged you to a Team America thread.... don't worry - it isn't about the content of the film, and you don't have to read anything R rated on thread, The ping was just to report a nasty FRMail exchange I had with Jon Alverez.

I am so happy to have evil coworkers with piles and piles of anime just lying around. That way, I don't have to be evil but I still get the nice free anime.

It's quite cool so far. Have seen four episodes, I think this is where it should start to make sense.

Got a letter the other day. I scanned it, and hope it turns out okay here. Notice that it's on geniune military letterhead, and was NOT produced on a 1972 IBM Selectric.

Amazing! The only way you know it's a forgery is that modern word-processors superscript the "th".

Just kidding. That's an awesome letter.
