The Hobbit Hole XVI - Still round the corner there may wait...

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Still round the corner there may wait...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

*waves* Hi msdrby!

Rosie, LOL! I was twelve/fourteen when Harrison Ford hit the national conscience. The crush didnt really develope until Empire, right about the time my hormones kicked in. Ford had been a favorite of mine up until the last decade or so. I wish I knew why he's not aging gracefully. Skanks like Flockhart and Boyle are beneath him.

Being mostly a lurker for the Hobbit Hole threads for years now ... I am wondering why the new thread? Usually it goes on and on for maybe 30,000 posts. This last was just shy of 7000. Was it Jim's idea or is it somehow easier to not let it become so long?

There are periods of time when I am away from the computer for days at a time; however the basic regulars that post here are an interesting group. Very enjoyable lurking usually, thanks.

Keep on keeping on ...

We were asked to not let them get so big.... They prefer them no bigger than 5,000 posts now, and we pushed that envelope a little this last time because I was procrastinating!

You are welcome anytime on the thread... And I don't predict any end to the mini-dramas here!

I got a letter! From someone at the Army National Guard! It's very long, but I would like to post it...is there a way I can scan it, email it to you and have you post it on a website, even just temporarily? Then we can link to it and read it. If I post it through york, it'll be too small to read...

It's very moving...

He (or she) also enclosed a pair of "crewchief's wings"...I'm so honored!

I can't remember where I originally found that one...just a Google image search, I think!

Wish I was able to do screen captures...be nice to pull some directly from The Movies.

I'd be happy to post it for you if you'd like. Do you still have my email?

Problem is. The system here strips off all attachments, so I couldn't get to it until later tonite from home.

But send it to me, and if no one else can get to it first, I'll post it tonite.

Thanks for picture. Rob Roy was a great film. Liam has been absent from the screen lately, hasn't he? Too bad.

Just a little one of my favorite naval captain (have noticed that most of my fandom goes for military guys, yet I scarcely knew any growing up!)
