The Hobbit Hole XVI - Still round the corner there may wait...

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Still round the corner there may wait...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Thanks. And in the grand scheme of things it's fairly trivial, right?

OK, time to get some laundry done and finish making the rest of the dinner to go with the beans...and then I'm gonna write some more!

I suppose so! But probably not to you.

I don't know about real estate options there, except that if you're looking for something on the river, it's already pretty expensive.

"Burn's Civil War" was a very well done piece. I bought the book for my dad. I have no idea where it is now.

Time for dinner!

There used to be a restaurant/pub on Long Island called the Hobbit Hole.

Well good. Glad you're gonna get this taken care of. If I could, I'd teleport you some chicken soup. The old fashioned kind is vey good for colds and such.

Mmmmm....chicken soup.

It's been rainy and dreary all day. I'm catching up on my freeps and petting the cat over me tea.

I'm getting tired of campaign ads. At least JFnK hasn't buying any ads 'round these parts lately.

Sometimes I'm glad I don't pick up any channels on TV and am too cheap for cable...

All I want is a local weather report.

That's why I have the internet. ;-)

Sometimes it'd be nice to have at least a few channels...but 99.5% of the time, I'm happier without it.

Well the plan is that when I move into my house, I'll get cable Internet...then I can ditch the phone too! There isn't enough good programming on cable to justify the $50 a month.

I probably shouldn't mention the size of our monthly cable bill...

Good evening!

Evenin' Corin; great news about Nana's mobility level.

Hope the drugs will knock whatever kind of munge you have. Doesn't sound good, whatever it is.

My first copy was one in SLP my folks did for me (it was first shown while I was in the Big Sandbox). My current copy on four tapes was made when rebroadcast about a year ago, coincident with the DVD release.

Another set I'd like in DVD is The World At War. I have that on commercially-produced VHS.

And The Prisoner. I don't have that one at all, and saw it only once, many years ago.

...I wonder what they're saying in Romanian...

"Vlad, I'm getting a little rashy...are you sure this is the SPF 50000?"

"Look out! That's Garlic, you fool!"
