Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Still round the corner there may wait...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

SO how'd the bagels turn out? Clare loves Garlic Bagels, but it's impossible to find them! We'll have to try our hands at making them sometime. They turned out pretty good, but not quite as chewy as I'd have liked. I'm not sure if that means more egg, or maybe some extra gluten, or if I'm just not going to get that texture without using white flour. They're definitely edible, in any case! And I was able to make them a more manageable size...the ones at the bagel place are truly hugh.

Good morning! Happy Monday, if that isn't an oxymoron!
How ya feelin', Corin?
Got pork and beans simmering in the crockpot today. Hope they turn out good! The sauce tasted good, in any case.

What a sweet idea for your little sister! I know she'd treasure it, even if YOU didn't think it was a good story, just because her big sister had done it for her.Yeah, that's what I'm hopin'. It'd be good practice for me, and she'd love it no matter what.
Thought of a bit more for it during this morning's walk, so I'm ready to get started writing tonight. As usual, I have a beginning and end and no middle...so I should prolly do some outlining first!

1 chicken carcass, cold water, vinegar, veggies (salt, pepper, herbies).
I don't have my recipe proportions in front of me. But you soak the carcass in cold water with a bit of vinegar for an hour. The vinegar breaks down the bone and pulls the calcium into the broth. Add veggies and bring to a boil. Skim off frothy stuff. Drop the heat and simmer all day. Strain and use for zzzzoup, rice, and other stuff.

Hm...so that's something I could probably do in the crockpot, too.
It'd be nice to have on hand for winter cooking! And chicken is cheap...

It's pouring here too...we needed it.
I'm tempted to blow off co-op today...I hate getting out in this kind of weather...and it's a long drive.

Leave anything? Like what? My strange family heirloom crystal with weird powers? My one true love I was destined to go there an meet? The weapon of ultimate power?
No, I pawned all those from some magic beer.
To: 2Jedismom
I am temped to do that with work but I don't have any excused as good as that... drat.

*gasp*
I'm shocked! SHOCKED, I tell you! Do you have ANY idea what you've caused??
Heh...so far I've figgered out three or four cliches to use...a princess in a tower, goblins, invisible servants...I'm well on my way! But Teresa will like it, and that's what matters.

Mornin'. Just talked with thenurse at the doctor's office. She's gonna talk with thedoctor and they'll either call in a prescription or have me come in this afternoon.
Meanwhile, since it's my day off...
- Nana and the Social Worker come at 10:30. I have to go clean out Nana's room since all the extra stuff from the bathroom (cleaning supplies, cosmetics, bath toys, etc. are currently in her room)
- Luke doesn't have preschool today, which is good because ~he~ is coughing...
- Jr. is home sick. But, of course, ~he~ hasn't been taking his allergy medicine.
- Contractor comes back at 1:00 to replace the subflooring.
- And I gotta haul a load of crap (debris from the bathroom) to the land fill.
I'll be in and out of here today...
