CENTRE ISLAND, N.Y. - Singer-songwriter Billy Joel (news) married his fiancee, 23-year-old Kate Lee, in a ceremony Saturday at his Long Island mansion, his record label said. Joel, 55, wed Lee in a sunset wedding at his waterfront home, Newsday reported in its online editions. Columbia Records, Joel's label, announced the marriage Saturday night. A spokeswoman for Joel could not immediately be reached for comment.
Joel, who was previously married twice, including to supermodel Christie Brinkley, has had more than two dozen Top 10 hits, including his signature song "Piano Man," which was released in 1973 and became a hit the next year.
Last month, Joel's star was placed on Hollywood Boulevard in front of the Pantages Theatre, where the Tony Award-winning musical based on his songs, "Movin' Out," is playing through Oct. 31. He is also a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Lee, a native of Huntington, W.Va., recently graduated from Ohio's Miami University and works as a restaurant correspondent for the PBS show "George Hirsch: Living It Up!" She and Joel began dating last year, according to Newsday.

Wonder how many dead trees it took to print a copy of the pre-nup? I heard those aren't worth the paper they are printed on.....

Christy said that she would never criticize herself for listening to her heart.....
Before BJoel left his wife for Christy, he wrote a song for his soon-to-be ex, "I love you just the way you are."
Can you imagine her saying "Who is this new woman you're seeing?"
"UH, Christy Brinkley"
"Well, I can see that...."
I wondered why no comedian ever picked up on that....

Well, yeah!! I didn't know that was what we were debating here. I thought this was sort of an opinion thing. If it's a matter of rights, then why is anyone bothering to post here? Of *course* he can marry whoever the heck will have him. But I get to frown and mutter about it. And even if he didn't have any money or lead in his pencil, he could *still* marry anybody that would have him. Although I think it's a safe bet that nobody in the 23 year range would line up for it.

Pitiful is more to the point, probably.
Really? I don't pity either of them...

It's like they can never give up playing with dollsIf you can't change the act you gotta change the audience. The younger the audience the better.

So, Stone Mountain, how come it is that a southern person doesn't know the meaning of 'pitiful'? Or is there another Stone Mountain outside the South that I don't know about?

I thought this was sort of an opinion thing ... But I get to frown and mutter about itBy all means. But when your opinion appears shallow and petty, don't be surprised if someone takes issue with it.

1. Inspiring or deserving pity.
2. Arousing contemptuous pity, as through ineptitude or inadequacy. See Synonyms at pathetic.
3. Archaic. Filled with pity or compassion.
I went by the first and most common definition. Neither of those two people inspires nor deserves pity from me. For that matter, the second definition doesn't apply either as they do not arouse contemptuous pity, as through ineptitude or inadequacy from me either. What do YOU think pitiful means?

Why do you care that an older guy and a younger woman got together? And while I don't know about the "lead in the pencil" thing, I know a number of younger women-older man couples where the man is not rich, or has less money than his wife. While some May-December romances are clearly money-based, I don't think that just because there is an age difference that you can assume that they aren't marrying each other for all the same reasons any other couple gets married. Some younger women like older men, and many older men like younger women. Why frown and mutter?

Well... I think pitiful, in this instance, as in sorry. Real sorry and pitiful. As any Georgia boy/girl should know. Not a yankee type definition from Websters.

Fine - you have a different definition than the dictionary and apparently, I'm supposed to have known what it was. I might also add that half your definition is actually the word you are defining. I would be less obnoxious about pointing this out to you if you hadn't taken the time to assert that I didn't know what the word meant.
In any case, I still do not think they are pitiful, even using your definition. Why are they real sorry? What have they done that offends you so?

Any information on whether they plan to have a family together? If they started right now, he'd be 75 when his son/daughter turned 20. Yikes. Good thing they'll be able to hire help. He'll need it. Costner is 49 and married a 25-year-old. Joel marries a 23-year-old, and I just saw one of my favorite (divorced) club entertainer who must be close to 60 now w/some blond who looked like she was 25. Who says it's not a man's world?

Who knows, maybe they don't want to have kids... And Demi Moore could tell you that it's not just older guys getting something younger...

Presuming, of course, your comment also applies to my wife. Wives know better. Plus, they already have their names on the checking account. It only works for 23 yr olds (+/- a couple years.)
