CENTRE ISLAND, N.Y. - Singer-songwriter Billy Joel (news) married his fiancee, 23-year-old Kate Lee, in a ceremony Saturday at his Long Island mansion, his record label said. Joel, 55, wed Lee in a sunset wedding at his waterfront home, Newsday reported in its online editions. Columbia Records, Joel's label, announced the marriage Saturday night. A spokeswoman for Joel could not immediately be reached for comment.
Joel, who was previously married twice, including to supermodel Christie Brinkley, has had more than two dozen Top 10 hits, including his signature song "Piano Man," which was released in 1973 and became a hit the next year.
Last month, Joel's star was placed on Hollywood Boulevard in front of the Pantages Theatre, where the Tony Award-winning musical based on his songs, "Movin' Out," is playing through Oct. 31. He is also a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Lee, a native of Huntington, W.Va., recently graduated from Ohio's Miami University and works as a restaurant correspondent for the PBS show "George Hirsch: Living It Up!" She and Joel began dating last year, according to Newsday.
Wonder how many dead trees it took to print a copy of the pre-nup?
Maybe she can start the fire.
Jealous?
My friends say no don't go
For that cotton candy
Son you're playing with fire
The kid will live and learn
As he watches his bridges burn
From the point of no return
Babylon sisters shake it
Babylon sisters shake it
So fine so young
Tell me I'm the only one
Most gorgeous 23 year old babes get hot just thinking about 55 year old balding fat guys.
According to the NY Post, his bride is four years older than his daughter. Whaddaya think, he's crazy or sumpin'? ;-)
"Come on Viagra, don't make me wait..."
Maybe we could parody this. Any ideas?
Does this mean I can marry a 23 yr old guy? Nah, I have raised my children already.
Gosh, he's 6 years older than my husband, and his new wife is our daughter's age.
Yuck!
Shades of Anna Nicole....
Millions of dollars work wonders for a libido.
Reminds me of the old joke. "Hey Mr. Joel how did you get a 23 year old girl to marry a 55 yo millionaire?".."I told her I was a 75 yo millionaire...".
You forgot the last word of your sentence - "wallets" .
checkbooks.
"where did all his hair go"
In the bottom drawer of the night stand.
"I don't recall her having a good reason for it."
As I recall, she had been very circumspect in her remarks, in deference to her then-younger daughter's feelings for her father. Brinkley had only stated that just because someone can write a good song full of feeling doesn't mean that he is that same person he writes from.
On the other hand, he's likely a liberal putz who sticks to music and not politics. As I recall, his only major political activity was trying to save blue-collar fishermen from being priced and taxed out of their own homes by nouveau-riche wannabes who moved into the Hamptons.
He's not on Bruce's Tour of Fools, and writes pretty damned good music. That's good enough for this old Joel fan. . .
I can hear it now - "Just call me 'mom'"
LOL! Not where I went to school. :o
But they are expected to adhere to moral-liberal PC thinking that such evils are okay for others.
