Email from my Mom (Jeannie)...

Friends & family,

I received this from a friend whose young son has served 3 tours in Iraq. I know there are so many soldiers over there that do not have anyone here at home to hear from. I have asked a friend over there now to please send names of soldiers who need mail. It doesn’t matter what your feelings are about this war, our precious troops need our support.

Thanks to those of you who wish to send this soldier a note of encouragement. It doesn’t have to be wordy or long. Just for him to be of good faith and courage and to know that we are thinking about him.

a Marine in iraq....he is north of Fallujah. He is an Arabic linguist also, and he is the only one. he has to go out on all patrols. Could you email him? He needs positive contact from all of us safe at home.

I also told him that we had "adopted" two service people that have since been discharged, I told him we will add him to the list since we no longer have anyone to write to in Iraq at this time. I gave him our address to respond to if he wants to write(snail mail)

I am sorry about your stroke and hope your recovery is going well. I also had a stroke after my last baby was born 20 some years ago. I had an infection in my heart valve and lost the feeling entirely on my left side. You could draw a line down the middle of me and anything on the left side had no sensation at all. I was fortunate to recover most of the feeling but there is definitely a residual effect that causes me to mix up a few words here and there or transpose numbers if I am not real careful. I also have trouble knowing for sure if what I am feeling is hot or cold, and I feel pain on that side, especially when I am tired. Doing things like play the piano was a real challenge for a long time, but I want you to know the progress I made after the stroke continued way beyond what the doctors originally thought. It probably made me a better Republican!! :)

I will say a prayer for your recovery.

I'm not talking necesarily about this particular marine, but all the others who feel abandoned, and I hear about them alot. They should be made aware of the adoption groups. Thats all I am saying.
