Concerning kidnappings in Iraq?
TOPICS:
KEYWORDS: buymeaclue; stopvanitiesnow
Why are these foreigners not carrying hand guns at all times and start fighting back!!!! They know if they are kidnapped, they are dead, don't they???
To: lyingisbetter
Personally, I would wear some sort of explosive device. I'm not going anywhere without taking these jihadists with me.

I think there are two reasons:
1) They truly don't think that they, as non-Americans, are in any danger from the jihad; and
2) They think that America will come blazing in to their rescue.

Chips will get you killed.
Hand guns can send a message that everyone is a soldier for peace. Everyone fights back!
They are walking targets over there.

As I understand it; each US civilian contractor accepting a position in Iraq is required to attend a mandatory briefing (along with their immediately family)regarding the situation in Iraq. They - of course - have the option of backing out.
Once they arrive in Iraq, they are briefed again as to the current situation. I believe they can be licensed to carry firearms while there.
What I don't understand is why a "sting" operation is not mounted with intelligence agents posing as civilian contractors. We certainly have the technology to implant the appropriate transmitter - track the signal - then at the correct time - interupt the "in process" execution with the appropriate level of enforcement.
Well, I've said enough here..."loose lips" do indeed "sink ships". If this type of venture is being planned, I hope it comes off successfully and soon.

Everytime I see a kidnapping, I wonder what the heck?
Do these people have a clue?
I respect what they are doing but let's get a clue, fight back why don't you!!
Hasn't 911 on the planes taught the world anything?

Yes, if these terrorist think we are carrying chips, they will set up traps.
Might work once.
But if they get the idea we are unarmed carrying chips?
I feel sorry for that person.
But if they get shot in between the eyes a few times trying to kidnap someone, they might lose a few volunteers!

Can you give us more info on this talk show host?
Is his show broadcast on the web? If not, can you give us a brief synopsis each week? Perhaps it could help spread the word to those who are willing to listen to the truth, rather than Rather.

Baynative was talking about Brian Suits. He is a radio show host for KVI- 570 AM in Seattle and serving in Iraq as a artillery forward observer, 2nd lieutenant. Check out www.kvi.com. I believe they have a streaming web cast during the Kirby Wilbur show. Suits usually checks in on Friday morning.
Baynative, that might not be a bad idea w/ regard to a report from the front regarding Brian Suits.
To: shotokan; Baynative
Thank you shotokan!!!! I really appreciate the info.
Y'all have a great weekend.

Baynative,
Would you like to post your synopsis to a separate thread so more FReepers will see it? I think it's a good idea. I'd be happy to help in any way if you'd like.

Most contractors I saw over in Iraq were armed. An interpreter I personally worked with bought an AK to replace the rusty 9mm he showed up with. I never remember seeing a contractor outside the wire unarmed unless heavily guarded by U.S. forces.
The 'GPS' chip thing has been discussed on other threads. I'll pass. Those guys would think nothing of cutting it out/off, to say nothing of the fact that anything that emits a signal can be tracked by either side.

Is it worth doing business over there?
