We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail!
Good morning!!
Do not let the victims of the attacks on New York and Washington, nor the brave members of our Nation's military who have given their lives to protect our freedom, die in vain!!
TROPICAL DEPRESSION IVAN ADVISORY #69
[Used in lieu of normal NHC graphic, which was not available.]
DISCUSSION
...IVAN POORLY ORGANIZED...MIGHT STRENGTHEN A LITTLE BEFORE REACHING TEXAS...
IVAN shows little sign of the normal organization associated with a tropical system (maybe because it is really a cut off LP system trying to behave as a tropical system?). There might be some strengthening before it reaches the coast, but the window for that to occur is closing.
IVAN is being steered by the strong mid-level HP center to its north. That center is forecast to weaken over the next 24 hours, and IVAN will slow after it makes landfall.
Rainfall amounts of 5 to 10 inches are possible along and to the right of the track of IVAN, which may result in life-threatening flash floods.

In the news...
Senator John Effin says that the draft would return if Bush is re-elected.
The Washington Pravda is accusing the Bush campaign of flip-flops since it targets one thing about Kerry, then something else, only to return to the first item.
For AMERICA - The Right Way, I remain yours in the Cause, the Chairman.
What an honor. Congratulations.
His office will be open, now.
You, my Dear, are a saint.
(((((Guenie)))))
Prayers continue for your Mom. Take care of yourself so you can be strong for your folks. B
Your faith will see you through Guennie and you are in our prayers. Role reversal is so very difficult! Also, your Mom has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's but I suspect your Dad has some deficits too, otherwise, I am certain he wouldn't have said those hurtful words. Sometimes, when the elderly realize they are in the winter of their lives, that they are losing their freedoms.....they strike out with the only weapons left to them....their words. Today will be a better day for you and your folks. ((hugs)) B
Have you heard of a DVD for sale called "OutFOX"? I heard one ad on it - something about "every American needs to view this video because it tells the TRUTH about how FOXNEWS is protecting President Bush and covering up all of his lies". You all have to remember that the Portland area of Oregon is SO liberal! I have a feeling it was produced around here somewhere.
Well, I just returned from an exciting time at FEMA....
Went to the South Daytona FEMA center; it's the West Volusia center for assistance. I went seeking reimbursement for a few expenses. In the room, there are tables all around the perimeter of the room. Along one wall are the FEMA folks. Another wall is the SBA. Another wall had the One Stop Career Center and DCF. But the one I like was the Health Insurance folks for someone - I am not sure who they were helping, because I was distracted by the commotion going on....
One of the people seeking help was getting REALLY LOUD, ranting (screaming) at a helper-type person that "It was Bush's fault" (not kidding) and they were going to "Go to Washington and sit on the steps of the White House until they saw the President and ask them why they can't get reimbursed for their prescription medicine".
I am not sure who the security folks are there. Not sure if they are Park Police (since it's a Federal Office) or if they are rent-a-cops, but they had to escort her to a back room, where she continued her tirade.
Of course, I couldnt resist chiming in - loudly - "It's all Bush's fault! They seeded the storms". I think the FEMA gal who was helping me caught on to my sarcasm and agreed that everything is Bush's fault. I pointed out the obvious; that he was to blame for everything from acne to hurricanes.
Well, that was my day. Now I have to go mow the yard. well, the part that's not under water.

Guess it is also about how Murdoch snookered the world. Do you all get the feeling the liberals are just plain losin' it?????
Moms-and-kids prayers going out for you.
Going to be absolutely gorgeous here today. The neighbors on one side are getting their house painted. The neighbors on the other side had their drive black-topped. My mini-guard dogs have been barking since aroud 7 a.m. Non-stop. You'd think by now they would have used up all their barkabulary!
Allawi on talking to Congress. Scumbag libs were applauding when he said we are better off without Saddam. Two faced idiots.
I am just now getting home. I've had a busy night, and the internet is being balky, so I won't be around much.

I really like this man!
Sorry to hear of the harsh words you are receiving. Will continue to pray for grace for you and King Arthur as you go through this period of trial.
Also remembering (praying for) you others who are dealing with the ordeal of caring for others. It requires much patience and grace. Praying also for those who are sick or have loved ones who are.
I just caught the last couple of minutes of Allawi's speech but it appeared that he was very well received.
Now... a request for some help!!!
As some of you know I am not much of a cook. I have decided, perhaps from listening to Toby, to go out and buy a crockpot. Have never used one but Toby's concoctions sound good, fairly easy to make and nutritious.
Any suggestions as to make, model? Will probably go to WalMart to get it.
Also, is there any special cut of meat one should use. I enjoy wholesome soups (rather than broth) and one of my favorite dishes is New England Pot Roast.
Thanks.
And Betty Crocker makes wonderfuly crockpot booklets...(I find them in the supermarket checkout line)...
..I have Slow Cooker Meals...and Casseroles & Slow Cooker Meals and Soup, Stew and Chili....
ALL slow cooker booklets....and yes, there's a yankee potroast, of course :))
You know I don't 'imbibe'.....but my favorite recipe for potroast is ....a nice small roast (I use sirloin tip for less fat)--or bottom round....
..and 1 can cream of mushroom, & Lipton onion soup mix (1 packet) OR...the mushroom soup and a can of cream of onion soup...(usually have to ask for cream of onion, as store order it per request only)....
...AND THEN 1/4 ot 1/2 cup of cheap storebought Burgandy....
...I use Livingston California Burgandy...cost about 3 dollars and change.
It smells wonderful and you'll lap it up!!!!
I also make a crowd pleasing chicken soup in my crockpot and a hominy and veggie soup.
Go for it!
Stew is always a good standby for a crockpot.
Get pre-cut stew meat from the store (I've always found, however, the cubes really still need to be cut in half again--maybe your store will be different).
Get vegetables: onions, celery, turnips, cabbage, carrots, pototoes (basically whatever you want).
Throw it all in the pot, right up to the brim. Sprinkle with salt, pepper, and cayenne or cajun season if you want a little zing. Pour in a cup of water (pour it all over the top, it'll wash the seasoning through the pot). Put it on low. Eight to ten hours later (more or less--when the beef is easily pierced by a fork, it's done), enjoy. (If you're in a "hurry"--fivish hours on "high" will get it done too.)
My dad was mentally alert and himself until he died. I spent the eveing before he died with him. He passed in his sleep.. as he intended. Our last talk was about my mother, my sister and I, and his grandchildren. In his last hours he was still looking out for his family.
My mother in her last months had dementia. She said terrible and very hateful things to both my sister and I. We handled it by realizing that demented person was not our loving mother. It was not her. It was an illness.
When the recent memory stops working. The present is little more than a huge void for them. They feel very alone and deserted. In that huge empty world that once was a functioning memory there has to be much fear, frustration, and anger. They strike out at what is near and close.. Understand what what causes the mean words. It is not your parent. It is a terrible disease.
I know how much the hateful words can hurt. Be angry with the terrible disease that is clouding their mind. Do lot let that terrible disease hurt you.
It will soon be a decade since my mother passed... and the pain and hurt her dementia caused are no longer of any consequence. Not a day passes that the memories of her warm and caring motherhood does not comfort me.
I thought I had lost her.. but my mother is with me still in a milion memories.. she will always be there for me..
Keep in mind what is really going on... and remember much better days are coming.
Your kind words are a help.
Thanks so much for those suggestions.
A question pertaining to "quantity". What to do with what is left from a single "cooking"? I suppose some can be kept in the refrigerator for a couple of days but even a 2 1/2 qt pot would mean some would have to be frozen. Correct?
I'd have to take into account that if you Chair, "fill it to the brim", your family would consume a great deal of it in a couple of sittings. How fun that would be!
I'll try to get started on this before the weekend though I am really struggling with my motivation and ambition. Maybe there is some emotional adjustment I haven't grabbed hold of since these procedures I've gone through. Just don't feel like doing anything.
Yesterday I went out in the yard to do some much needed cleanup. Worked for about 15 minutes and wasn't tired, but I got so depressed with the amount of cleanup necessary I just quit... and I'm not one who will just go out and hire the firms that are charging outrageous prices to pick up debris. My debris is not that which requires a chainsaw or machinery.
Please pray for me that I'll get out of this attitude.
lysie, praying the dr. appointment goes well.
Guennie, what all did he say???
