Astronomers have found a cloud of frozen sugar near the centre of our galaxy ... Don't ask what they've found on Uranus.

Well, an "organic" compound is any compound that contains carbon and hydrogen (if I recall my college chemistry class correctly.) In our normal experience here on Earth they tend to be generated by life, but they don't have to be.

Actually, I've never heard of that one. It was probably a West Coast trial roll out. They were superb ... the very short time they lasted.

In other news, scientists have discovered that planets have a Tootsie Roll center. How many licks did that discovery take? :)

I was addicted to Mallow Cups in my youth. It's strange how my candy tastes still parallel those of my youth. Big on Milky Ways ... suspicious of Three Musketeers (no caramel). Used to play getting Communion in church with Necco Wafers (although that ended when I had my First Holy Communion). A fondness for Black Babies which ended completely with political correctness.
Mallow Cups? Were those Cup 'o Gold? I liked/like those.

If this is true, it means there's life all over the galaxy. What's scarier - we're alone in the Universe, or we're not? (credit Arthur C. Clarke, I think)

Thanks....Glycolaldehyde consists of two carbon atoms, two oxygen atoms and four hydrogen atoms.....Sounds like no one should light a match. It might start a super-nova.

The center of the galaxy *does* lie in the direction of the constellation Sagittarius, a/k/a "The Teapot"...

Molecules of a simple sugar, glycolaldehyde, were detected in a cloud of gas and dust called Sagittarius B2 about 26,000 light years away.
And they've found interstellar ethanol, too, thus indicating the spiritual nature of the universe.

Well, in the spirit of the day, I used to like Payday.
Sweet Caramel. Tons of Salty Peanuts.
Salty Peanuts orbiting around a cloud of sugar!

If there is "sugar" at the center of the "milky" way does that mean that dark matter is made of coffee?

Don't ask what they've found on Uranus. You know where you can put your planet whose name dare not be uttered......
