But if this story is true, does this mean the universe is anti-Atkins? Can we substitute Splenda?

They had Mars bars in the 50's? Did they "go away" and then come back again in the late 70's?

Glycolaldehyde consists of two carbon atoms, two oxygen atoms and four hydrogen atoms.
mmmmmmmmm...carbon....of organic compounds( Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary) .
I thought that carbon was organic. Is this sugar cloud the remains of organic life?

"This fact suggests a universal prebiotic chemistry."This is quite a stretch, imo. "universal" is a pretty powerful and focused word.

In other news, scientists have discovered that planets have a Tootsie Roll center.

It's not sugar, it's creamy nougat! And I should know; it's one of my favorite candy bars!

No, just the size and the price. They used to be huge (or so I remember) ... and only 5 cents (that I do remember). Compare and contrast.

Ah grey-whiskers sugar is VERY important in DNA (in fact it is part of DNA). What your asking is like, "why sugar in the middle of human life?"

It really irriated me that they introduced the peanut butter Milky Way then stopped producing it after I was hooked.

Gee... what does this mean?
Maybe the whole galaxy is just some momentary part of a cotton candy machine in some mega civilization?

Don't get excited. Yes, every galaxy has a freezer. But wait'll we find the bathroom.
Anyway, but seriously folks:
"This fact suggests a universal prebiotic chemistry."
Not to start anything, but that's interesting.
To: BunnySlippers
"... and only 5 cents (that I do remember)"Yes! five cent candy bars and in your (child's) hand, they were the size of a loaf of today's bread. I was addicted to Mallow Cups in my youth. They had a program to redeem the coinage inserted into the Mallow Cup packaging. I'd save up 500 points to get 10 free Mallow Cup packs and then wind up eating up the ten free packs in one day. No control. I think the Mallow Cups started it all off...
