Glycolaldehyde consists of two carbon atoms, two oxygen atoms and four hydrogen atoms.

mmmmmmmmm...carbon....of organic compounds( Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary) .
I thought that carbon was organic. Is this sugar cloud the remains of organic life?

Well, an "organic" compound is any compound that contains carbon and hydrogen (if I recall my college chemistry class correctly.) In our normal experience here on Earth they tend to be generated by life, but they don't have to be.
