but they should identify immediately those engaged in possible criminal activity who attempted to use a news organization to affect the outcome of a Presidential election in its closing days.

This needs to be vigorously prosecuted. The RATS are getting desparate and have attempted to steal THIS election, too.

In 2000, there was a democratic official who was found with voting boxes with punched ballots in his car. Why wasn't that pursued. Now, they have attempted to sway voters with fraudulent documents. It should be pursued as criminal activity.

Dog, I think this is big, too. Not because it will bring down a President (i.e. Watergate), but because it undermines the RAT party. CBS and the RATS are going to take a fall. At least, they should.

Mr. Chairman, rest assured that the CBS incident is now officially over and nothing more will be said or done.

After all, "Danny-boy" said he was sorry and if that is good enough for the Grinch, it's good enough for any RAT!

Good morning everybody! Things are going well at Luther. Our lectures are under the not so great category, and church services are undisputably p.c. Even the Republicans here aren't really Republicans, they're the kind that stand right next to the fence so that it's really easy to jump back over, if needed. It's ok, but that's getting a little old...
Well, I hope you all have a wonderful Tuesday, and pray for people in the south, those getting pounded and those cleaning up. Good day.

GOOD MORNING EVERYBODY!! I'm back with high speed wireless internet, YAY! Yesterday we drove to a campground in KS City area that has the highspeed, boy is it great.

Last report from the festival: Friday and Saturday were a blur of activities as usual. Saw some excellent talent both on stage and off. Stayed up WAY too late playing music. As usual.

So what was the "magic moment" this year? In addition to the stage areas and campground jams another location that provides a good deal of "entertainment" especially at night, is the gravel road that runs through the campground, . People congregate under the street lights in walk-up jams, others walk the road to listen, dance, sing along or otherwise participate. The area often becomes street theatre with costumes etc. We saw a fellow carrying around a tuba (sans mouthpiece and keys) that was somehow attached to a banjo so that presumably the sound of the banjo came out of the tuba horn. He called it a "sousa-jo". Weird stuff. Usually the road holds little interest for me other than the amusement aspect because frankly, sometimes those who've imbibed a bit too much frequent the area.

Our friends have a 9 year old son who is learning to play fiddle. He knows one tune, Angelina Baker, that he played over and over and over all weekend and stumbles a bit on the timing especially the 2nd part. Matthew is a bit precocious and decided he would go stand on the side of the road Saturday night and play his tune. Soon he had a crowd of about two dozen people standing around watching him. He seemed completely unphased by the crowd and just kept fiddlin'. In fact he played the tune the best I'd heard him play it all weekend, especially when the crowd started clapping in time. Some were dancing.

Then somebody walked up and put a dollar in Matthew's case. And somebody else did. And another and another. Before he quit the kid had $18 he'd picked up on the Walnut Valley road. It was the funniest, most special moment of the weekend. Matt is now a bona fide Road Toad, LOLOLOL!!

Sunday morning brought the usual clink-clink-clink sound of camps being taken down. By early afternoon our friends were starting to head out for home. Hugs, kisses, warm wishes, promises to come again next year and tears quickly wiped away. The usual Sunday balance of sadness at parting to a weekend filled with fun and excitement. It was an especially good year at Walnut Valley.

Oh, thought I'd include that those who saw our young guitar-playing friend compete in the National Contest all said they thought he'd nailed his pieces. But, as so often happens in competitions, he didn't make the final cut. So, a good experience for him and one that may spur him to keep trying.

It's wonderful to be posting to you all and FReeping today. Not sure how long we will be in KC.

Howdy.

Does anyone have a link to info that shows or tells the level of terrorist activity in decline?

I can't find it on Google, State Dept website or FR.

I wanted to post this, but didn't know where (and I don't want to start a vanity thread with it - there are already enough "thoughts" posted as vanities, IMO...)

But I was watching Hannity and Colmes in Fox tonight, and Colmes was interviewing John O'Neill and made the comment to John about the "free fire zone".

My question/comment is this (sort of long):

Kerry in 1971 told the Senate

We learned the meaning of free-fire zones--shooting anything that moves--and we watched while America placed a cheapness on the lives of orientals
However, a free fire zone as defined as where military personnel were given the right to use their own discretion, which in fact could be that they would NOT fire on civilians.

Then in the debate between John O'Neill and Kerry on the Dick Cavett Show Jun 30, 1971, there was this exchange

O'NEILL [to Kerry]: Can you tell me about any war crimes that occurred in [our] unit, Coastal Division 11? I never saw anything, and I'd like you to tell me about the war crimes you saw committed there.
KERRY: Did you serve in a free fire zone?
O'NEILL: I certainly did serve in a free fire zone.
KERRY: [Reading] "Free fire zone, in which we kill anything that moves - man, woman or child." This practice suspends the distinction between combatant and non-combatant and contravenes Geneva Convention Article 3.1.
O'NEILL: Where is that from?
KERRY: Geneva Conventions. You've heard about the Geneva Conventions. Yes, we did participate in war crimes in Coastal Division 11 because we took part in free fire zones, harassment, interdiction fire, and search-and-destroy missions. [Didn't you] see huts along the sides of the rivers that were totally destroyed? You never burned a village?
O'NEILL: No, I never burned a village, that's absolutely correct. We'd never do anything dishonorable.

The "where is that from" that John O'Neill said was referring to Kerry's comment "Free fire zone, in which we kill anything that moves - man, woman or child." It was not the latter part of the comment. So Kerry never said where he got that source of information.

The Geneva Convention article Kerry referenced does not mention free fire zones. And free fire zones do not, by definition, violate the Code Kerry referred to:

Article 3

In the case of armed conflict not of an international character occurring in the territory of one of the High Contracting Parties, each party to the conflict shall be bound to apply, as a minimum, the following provisions:

1. Persons taking no active part in the hostilities, including members of armed forces who have laid down their arms and those placed hors de combat by sickness, wounds, detention, or any other cause, shall in all circumstances be treated humanely, without any adverse distinction founded on race, colour, religion or faith, sex, birth or wealth, or any other similar criteria.

My question is, where did Kerry come up with the idea that a free fire zone is where you kill anything that moves?

And, Kerry said that he (Kerry) committed war crimes. How can we have him arrested, and tried by his own words?
