House passes bill for mental Health Screening for children

A presidential initiative, the "New Freedom Commission on Mental Health" has recommended forced mental health screening for every child in America, including pre-schoolers, and ultimately all adults. Such screening would be done by regular doctors when people visit their offices for other medical reasons.

A bill mandating this has already passed the House and is being considered in the Senate, for a possible vote as early as next week.

The program is patterned after the Texas Medication Algorithm Project, which assigns medication treatments based on such assessments there.

These bills constitute a further assault on the family, especially the rights of parents dealing with their children's behavior.

I am very concerned about it but I know many will dismiss it as paranoia.

Serious potential Big Brother abuse, closely akin to health care clinics in the school setting where parental permissions aren't necessary sought, where your kids are examined for signs of physical (and mental) abuse, and where your kids are quizzed about you and your un-PC activities (such as gun ownership). Then CPS can decide to pay you a visit.

Or your kid can be put on Ritalin at their discretion, etc.

If the mental health screening looks for learning disorders, mental retardation, autism, suicidality, and antisocial behaviors, then it sounds like a good thing.

Of course, the parents should always have the final say on the course of treatment, unless the refusal of treatment can lead to serious harm to the child and society.

Yes,
the pharmacueticals are totally behind this move. Sounds like the Congress people who are investigating the suicidal links between anti-depressants and those who just passed this bill need to talk to each other some more.

Alan Jones was fired for being the whistle blower on this scandal. The British Medical Journal was pretty good about exposing it and our friends in England seem to be much more concerned about their teen suicide rate than our AMA. They have banned all anti-depressants except for Prozac.

The pharama companies were VERY effective in getting this story squashed in the main stream press, they bragged about it on their web site. (watch any news show and most of the ads are paid for by big pharamacuetical companies). - This segment brought to you by Zoloft....

I guess it will be up to the alternative press, again, to expose this for what it is.

Please don't let this story die, it is just too important.

I sometimes wonder how these pharmacuetical company executives sleep at night. Have they no shame? No concern for the well being of ordinary citizens? They know that their dope is addictive, has devastating side effects for teens especially, and everyone else generally.

Ask the families of Eric Harris's victims of the Columnbine school massacre if they have relished in his particular "side effect" to the Luvox he was taking which caused horrible agression and homicidal behavior.

These companies know, and they have covered it up for years, paying off victims, and hushing up the cases, keeping them out of the press.

It is time people.....Expose the fraud, before our whole world is drunk on mental health drugs - forced on us by greedy, slimy, charlatans, who have no concern for anyone's health....

Shouldn't we contact President Bush who started this Nonsense?  Our mental health system is fine and it should be left up to the states as to what to do with their citizens.

Psychiatry and the State (Excerpt)

The federal government plans a new role in delivering mental health care.  Historically, however, governments have used psychiatric techniques for harm rather than good.

On April 29, 2002, President George W. Bush issued an executive order creating a new commission charged with finding ways to “improve America’s mental health service delivery system.” One year later, the Orwellian-sounding New Freedom Commission on Mental Health released its findings.  Its final report recommended mental health screening for all Americans and, in a proposal that should alarm parents everywhere, recommended that the nation’s schools be used to assess the mental health of all schoolchildren.

President George W. Bush wants to have  American citizens, beginning with all school age children, examined by psychiatrists.

"The New Freedom Initiative is a plan to screen the entire U.S. population for mental illness and to provide a cradle-to-grave continuum of services for those identified as either mentally ill or at risk of becoming so. Under the plan, schools would become hubs of the screening process, not only for children, but for their parents and teachers. There are even components aimed at senior citizens, pregnant women, and new mothers.

"In April 2002, President Bush established the New Freedom Commission on Mental Health to conduct a 'comprehensive study of the United States mental health service delivery system.' The commission issued its recommendations in July 2003, chief among them being that schools are in a 'key position' to screen the 52 million students and 6 million adults who work at educational facilities."

This Draconian federal program began in Texas while G.W. Bush was Governor. It was called the Texas Medication Algorithm Project as an alliance between the pharmaceutical industry, the University of Texas, and the mental health and corrections systems of Texas. Now that Bush is President, he has begun implementing the program at the national level.
