I was having a discussion with a young runaway today who judges "doing better" as not having sex or doing drugs when she ran away this time. This kid is very streetwise. Anyway, after talking about a number of things, not the least being choosing to be who SHE wanted to be and not letting other people define her, I wanted to give her something that would make an impression. I told her "class beats crass every time." She wanted to know what that meant. I told her to look it up. She asked the lady at the PD for a dictionary. There wasn't one around, but she took her to look it up on the internet. I think she'll remember. Anyway, when I was talking to her, I was thinking about the stark contrast between Laura and Teraza.
I don't think that public speaking is Teraza's forte. Raunchy comedy, on the other hand.....
Who knows, Mo, maybe being fussed and fluffy will a hot issue in 2008.

Here in spirit. I had a VERY hectic day. Got in to discover there was a new report on one of my families and I HAD to take these 2 little boys into foster care, AND find placements for them. We are desperately short of foster homes. AND one of my foster kids had run away with another girl in her foster home, and I am happy to report that the investigative work done by me and another investigator in the office not only found the girls, but nailed this SOB I was after for having sex with this kid. We knew it was happening, but couldn't prove it, and while he didn't admit it, others testified to it, including the girl. It was sweet watching this pervert SOB sitting in the interrogation room sweating.
Anyway, then I had to transport kids. Move one of them (wasn't even my case), inform parents what was happening, diffuse the dad of this girl, and too many other things to count.....so let's just say I was a teensy bit distracted. But at least I had the confidence of knowing we won.
No argument there. There are days like today when I say to myself, "what the h*ll were you thinking?!"
As I mentioned before, you never know what impact you might have on a child's life. Nice going.

I just hope some how the USA Heartland dose not have to endure 4 more years of Viper talk from the Dems and media.
Maybe with Daschle gone it will be a wake up call......that Kennedy. Kerry are next!

I stayed awake till 6 this morning .. slept for 2 hours .. up all day and then finally crashed on the couch after dinner.
I never heard Mike sending the kids off to bed .. I was totally out of it.
