The Washington Dispatch | 18 Oct 2004 | Frosty Wooldridge

Illegal alien immigrants breach America’s borders by no less than 4,000 every night. Their numbers exceed 15 million and some experts estimate 20 million. Their impact and severity quickens in every corner of America. Yet, Congress, like an old drunk watching a fly on the wall, sits idly by while an invasion of Third World multitudes floods every state in the Union.

Worse, immigrant numbers never end. The world, now standing at 6.4 billion human beings, is predicted to rise to as high as 9.8 billion by 2050. That means 10,000 new babies added per hour, 240,000 daily and over 80 million annually. Most suffer extreme poverty while frantic for a better life. As Neil Diamond sings, “They’re coming to America.”

But they are coming too much, too fast, too many and too unlawfully. Arizona stands as the state being invaded second only to California’s estimated four million illegals. Arizona deems water more precious than gold. It houses over one half million illegal aliens. The burden to Arizona taxpayers stands at over $1 billion annually. Each Arizona household pays nearly $1,000.00 in services annually for illegal aliens and their children. Since the Federal Government refuses to stop the onslaught, citizens created Proposition 200.

Arizona citizens scream, “Enough is enough!”

“Perhaps the person who can be credited most with the necessity for this initiative is Governor Janet Napolitano,” Iris Lynch, a local activist said. “In a bill that had passed both the Arizona House and Senate that would have required a recognized identification at the polling places in Arizona, the Napolitano vetoed it before an adoring crowd of LULAC activists. That organization is one of several pro-illegal immigration and anti-American Hispanic groups in the southwest. Their goal is to establish Aztlan, which means to take back Border States into Mexican ‘reconquista.’

“Incensed that the newly elected Governor, who had been Arizona’s Attorney General and knowledgeable about her duties to uphold the law, Protect Arizona Now was formed to bypass the Governor’s veto by going to the people. It made complete sense that along with the requirement of proving yourself to be the person voting, why not include some other obvious, but missing, ‘proofs’ of existing law? The ‘old’ laws that had been based on the honor system worked well enough before we had masses of people abusing the law for selfish gain.”

The initiative that resulted from this organization, Protect Arizona Now, which included State Representatives Russell Pearce and Randy Graf as consultants, was The Arizona Taxpayer and Citizen Protection Act. This initiative became Proposition 200 and is on the ballot under that name. When it passes, now at over 70% in favor, other states also paying for illegal immigrant debt loads may follow suit.

Finally, in February 2003, with just four full months left to gather a minimum of 150,000 signatures, Director of Protect Arizona Now, Kathy McKee agreed to assistance from the Federation for American Immigration Reform. With the investment of hundreds of thousands of dollars and the knowledge that McKee had husbanded the donations so far received on behalf of the initiative, FAIR contracted with a known professional signature-gathering firm in Rancho Cordova, California.

Prop 200 was designed to enforce EXISTING laws. It will require proof of citizenship when registering to vote for the first time, or if you move to another county and re-register. It has no effect on those who are already registered to vote. Prop 200 will require the voter to show either a picture ID or two-(2) no-picture IDs at the polls. Prop 200 will require proof of citizenship or proof of legal residency when applying for non-federally mandated state and local benefits. Prop 200 outlines penalties for defying the amended law.

“As just stated Prop 200 amends existing law and each amendment follows the text of existing law with the amended text,” Lynch said. “Nowhere in existing law regarding welfare benefits is there a definition of what those benefits are and, it seems, everyone in government was content with that absence and seemed to have a perfect understanding of what was covered. Now, these same governing elites are confused as to the meaning of “welfare benefits” and are saying that without a tight definition, every Arizonan will need to carry proof of citizenship lest they be left to die in an accident because they couldn’t prove being eligible for that ‘benefit’ of an ambulance and paramedic. Other outlandish claims cover inability to get a library card, fear of reporting a fire or a crime in progress and more. Other arguments include that this will call for racial profiling, however, these laws apply to everyone who wants to vote or who applies for state and local welfare benefits. Application for welfare benefits require a great deal more ‘proofs’ for citizens than is required for illegals.”

No proponents of Proposition 200 have claimed that this initiative will halt illegal immigration. If it has any effect on that problem, it will be as a direct result of drying up the subsidies received by illegals who cannot exist in this country with the slave wages paid by unethical corporations. Anyone who believes that these men live 15-20 to a residence because they are lonely, just doesn’t understand the sacrifices these people make to send billions a year home to their families. As a property owner, that kind of use of a residence quickly reduces the value and creates negative impacts on entire neighborhoods. Further, the tidal wave of cheap labor is now doing more than reduce wages. The numbers of illegal aliens in the streets of Phoenix looking for work now exceeds the work available. As a result, crime exploded in the past decade. For example, 57,600 cars were stolen in Phoenix in 2003 making it the car-jacking capitol of the world.

“Without subsidies, it is likely that many illegals will no longer find that working here is such a great bargain,” Lynch said. “If they can’t send money home, what is the point of their sacrifice? Is it any wonder that businesses, unions, Chambers of Commerce and big banks are fighting this with every silly lie they can dream up? These ads emphasize the contempt they have for the intelligence of the taxpaying citizens of Arizona. Then, there are certain churches that receive vast subsidies from the Federal government to ‘Welcome Refugees, Asylees and Immigrants.’ This leads to water stations and other ‘rescue’ endeavors, which are of no help in the vast empty expanses of the desert, yet may entice these illegals to think the danger is lessened. It isn’t.”

“The proponents of Prop 200 do not claim that it alone will stop criminal activities,” Lynch continued. “In southern Arizona, the lawlessness includes dining on cats and cows, starting forest fires, destroying the environment, car hi-jackings and drug-related shootings. Proposition 200 is directed at the fraud of voting illegally and the fraud of receiving state and local welfare benefits that illegals are not entitled to receive. Without these subsidies, many illegals will just go home and wages will need to rise to entice American citizens to apply.”

Prop 200 will have a greater impact than simple enforcement of existing law,” Lynch said. “And you will note, there are NO arguments against that! What the opponents fear is the strong message that the citizens of Arizona are no longer willing to put up with the lawlessness and costs incurred. If the Governor and legislators on both sides of the aisle refuse to govern according to the laws of the state, then the citizens will do the job of law enforcement.

“That is the message we are sending to the rest of the nation.” Lynch said. “As long as we still have the vote, we still have the power. Without Prop 200 and our insistence that our vote be inviolate, we will all be losing a lot more than a new initiative.”

It’s called Third World Momentum and it’s gaining across the USA with lawlessness, crime, disease, bankrupting hospitals, overwhelmed schools and a host of other dilemmas slammed onto American taxpayers and communities. Once Prop 200 passes, along with radio station talk show hosts bringing Congress to justice with “Human Political Sacrifices” and such citizen initiatives as “Remember in November Car Caravans,” American citizens force states rights into the forefront of the political battleground. When elected leaders won’t uphold their oaths of office, citizens will force their hand. What a country!

Good article, thanks. This morning, there were several letters to the Red Star, beating back the pols, media and other elites who continue to fight Prop 200. Like one letter writer said, the backers come from all sides of the political spectrum and are the non-elites, ordinary citizens like us who pay taxes and are sick of the invasion.

On top of it, now the illegals are not only killing themselves on the highways, but also killing American citizens. The accident in Sierra Vista on Saturday was so disturbing that the emergency workers all had to be grief-debriefed. It is a serious risk to drive any of our highways anymore, south of Tucson, or north to Phoenix. There are continual jam-packed vans of illegals, rolling over.

Like I've always said, I either grow my own lettuce or I will pay more at the store - it will still be way cheaper than what we pay to support them now so they can mail billions back home.

I did enhance it .. it was a sunset with a flare in the lens. I saturated the color and upped the contrast.

The letters about Prop 200 today:

http://www.dailystar.com/dailystar/opinion/44013.php

There are also links to the initiative through the above. I have read the initiative top to bottom several times, and there is NOTHING about race, ethnicity, or anything remotely racist. Yet the politicians/media/elite opponents call us "mean-spirited", "racist", "hateful" and so on. It is THEY who are all those things!

LOL, yes I am still on that cruise "jag", I guess. What is a jag, actually? Must be a yankee term.

Going somewhere on a ship, like a Transatlantic Liner, is the only way to travel, but a cruise ship is the pits.

It is like a cramped, but incredibly expensive hotel, where you have to eat all your meals in the hotel dining room, and the only place to go out of the hotel is on the roof.

They are also pits of disease because almost all have inadequate ventilation.

I would not get on one if they paid me.

Speaking of weather (up the thread) our Indian summer appears to be over. We had very hot days right up until Saturday. Sunday we got some rain, and last night we got RAIN and WIND. There were public service announcement flood warnings this morning, and the wrecks on the freeway were everywear. People around here either don't know or forget that when it hasn't rained since April there is a lot of oil build-up on the freeways, and the rain makes them slick. Slow down? Gawd, we can't slow down! So when we have the first big rain of the season, the auto body shops do a booming business!

That is so funny but ridiculous! It's like that here; since we only get twelve inches of rain each year, max, and almost everyone is from someplace else, so knows his/her own set of driving rules. No one seems to be able to drive in the rain. I stay in when it rains if at all possible.

Correct-a-mundo about the HUGE ships. The Commodore Line out of NO, that sails about 800 people is much more preferable than the 3000 or so that Carnival sails.

I also prefer to stay in the bottom-most berths in case of rough weather, and not waking up bare-assed naked to some painter dude staring in the window while berthed above the waterline. Who knew that painting the ship was a lifetime occupation?
