Well, I am going to send to DJ personally, so what I'm looking for is just a site of suggestions of what to send.
Hey, do you want to adopt my soldier? He is a sweet twenty-one year old Kentucky boy with a wife and a toddler child.
I want to adopt someone who has NO ONE it is good for those who have family supporting you, it is also very sad when no one is there!
Your nephew is in my prayers!
For the those of you who recognized what is on this site!

We have stopped buying Air Conditioners for this summer. As of 1 October 2004, we begun to buy space heaters. The procedure to donate space heaters is to donate cash to us so that we can buy them in bulk at a discount (we buy 1000 heaters at a time usually) and we buy boots in bulk as well, about 450 pair at a time. We'll get it to the specific soldier or marine who signed up on our site in Iraq or Afghanistan. We also encourage you to sign up to adopt a soldier or marine and send them cards, care packages or anything to let them know we are still behind them and we support them!
We have an Adopt-A-Soldier program where you can sign-up here on the website to adopt a soldier. You can buy him or her the Altama Combat boots and begin corresponding with them and sending them care packages. We will also continue sending Altama Ripple sole combat boots ourselves to the soldiers we find that have an immediate need. We have just been picked up by a local business to sponsor "Boots From Bikers" campaign from Mike's Famous Harley Davidson located in New Castle, Delaware. We sent 428 pairs out in August and now we are going to do this again in October.
We send soldiers anything they email us and ask for. Our soldiers and marines are humble people and they only ask for what they need like water and food. I have never received a request for a "luxury" item. I do send them snake repellent, insect repellent, sticky traps for the scorpions and flea powder also. It is my hope that we make their existence in Iraq and Afghanistan during their deployment as safe and as easy on them as possible given the job they are there to do. I have found that the 2 pairs of boots they are given for their deployment are just about falling off their feet and they are worn out. Getting new supplies of these types of items is difficult to get to our troops. You will see by the letters our troops mail to Operation AC that the boots are a really big thing for them. Just imagine wearing the same boots in hot sandy conditions following with cold, wet and muddy conditions for nearly a year. Plus you are on your feet about 15 hours a day on average. Anyone who was in the military will tell you - soldiers must take care of their feet. That does not change from Valley Forge with General Washington to now in Iraq.
Rested Soldiers are more alert and able to perform their duty SAFELY! We need to buy and send many items to help these soldiers and marines. They are doing VERY dangerous jobs.
They need us! Please donate!!!
Is she saying that the soldiers must pay for their own boots in a war zone?
The SideWinder charger is the worlds smallest, lightest, and most powerful portable cell phone charger available.
Weighs only 2 ½ ounces and puts out power greater than a plug-in charger.
Ideal for any situation away from a traditional power source and you need to complete a call.
2 minutes of charging equals over 6 minutes of talk time, even more standby time.
Keep charging and talk indefinitely.
The SideWinder also contains a powerful LED light that runs over 5 minutes with NO BATTERIES and only 30 seconds of charging!
Here's another useful idea for the troop.
Or for anyone, for that matter...
To get decent gear, yes, the soldiers, their family and friends are having to provide boots, flak jackets, gloves, etc.
Are you telling me that my nephew can talk to me on a cell phone from Iraq?
So, what ever happened to military issue?
Those who tried to mock other struggles are so evil and heartless! John Edward says vote for Beelzebub Kerry all will walk again!
The Special Olympians... are some of the finest people the Lord has created and could teach us many lessons in life!
Saw the article already.
The Dems would have a cow, and it'd be all over the media if the Republicans said that.
They'd call it 'hate speech'..
Clinton Cutbacks.
Can't keep up with demand.
When I went to Basic and AIT in 96, we didn't "need" 20 companies providing boots to the military, so they were cut.
Now we need production ramped up to keep up with the demand, and it just isn't there.
But the civilian market for the mil-spec gear CAN keep up, so sometimes it's better and cheaper to hunt down a civilian market catalogue and do some shopping.
My old unit got told several times that they "just couldn't get that boot size" when some of our troops needed to DX (direct exchange/turn in and replace) boots.
Even with the increase in funding for our military that Dubya did, it'll take some time to build supply back up to being adequate.
Poser, an evil program for evil people.
;-)
Howie Carr is talking about this ad on the radio now. That is absolutely terrible. Can you imagine if a Bush voter did that? I can't believe this.. I just can't.
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
You have no idea....... lolololololol
LOL!
Well, lord love a duck...but they can readily supply black berets made in China to our soldiers.
So, these personal purchases must still be up to military specs?
And what is this about flak jackets? Is it a military issue item?
Thanks for the links on soldiers - I will read everything. It IS very sad for those who have no one. The entire first Persian Gulf War I wrote "any soldier" letters, and adopted soldiers. Now with the state of things, we aren't allowed to write "any soldier" letters anymore (directly to them at any rate). So, I will definitely try your links.

The black berets made in China was an Eric Shinseki special.
*ugh*
The flak jackets are pretty much bulk ordered by the unit, and a smart supply seargent has many of them stashed away.
(That was seemingly the only reason my old unit had them in the quantity that we did, the supply seargent mass ordered them once.. otherwise thgere wouldn't have been one in my size.)
When I reported to my unit, I was assigned a weapon, protective mask(gasmask), and a flak jacket.
Other items were OCIE issued, like gloves boots and cold weather snivel gear, but the items needed currently seem to be the main items of issue.
Boots, ECWS jackets and pants, gloves, and other similar items.
I don't know the exact real extent of what is needed, I've been out for three years now, but I'd guess that it's the same items my old unit was short of.
US Cavalry and Brigade Quartermaster, two places one can order 'mil spec' stuff, is up to quality.
Sometimes better, their belts are tough and the buckels don't wimp out on you.
(can be used as a tourniquet..)
My old Captain was such an anally retentive jerk that he'd Article 15 us for having belts 'not issued by the unit'.
