EDMOND, Oklahoma (Reuters) -- An Oklahoma man desperate to save his marriage by appearing like a hero to his wife ended up in police custody on suspicion of staging a crime. He hired "burglars" and foiled their fake robbery attempt, police said on Friday.

Trent Spencer, 27, of Edmond, north of Oklahoma City, was charged this week with the misdemeanor crime of filing a false report, said police spokeswoman Glynda Chu.

According to police, Spencer, a high school teacher, paid two students $100 each to break into his house and try to make off with a stereo.

The masked students tied his wife with duct tape and her husband was in the house just in time to foil the supposed crime, police said.

Police said Spencer attacked the two in a choreographed fight, even hitting one with a board that he had cut to break in half. The plan was going well until his wife freed herself and called police, something Spencer did not anticipate, police said.

In class today and tomorrow so am pretty tied up - thanks for the news. - I thought the exact same thing when I read your post about C. Reeves. I just heard Lurch mention his name the other day (maybe at debate). Lurch sent Terr-ray-zuh to off Superman!

No one but Lucy and Ethel in Paris. This reminded me of the episode when Lucy was begging Ricki for an expensive parisian dress from a famous designer.

Ricki and Fred had a seamstress make outfits out of burlap sacks and told them they had bought them at the shop of the famous designer.

And Lucy and Ethel strutted down the street in their burlap sack dresses. LOL

I will confess to having never understood "fashion" - I mean I never see this stuff anywhere except their shows.

How can it be profitable to make this garbage and never sell any of it?

We both have a pro football home team identity crisis (pfhtic) to deal with so far this year. We both believe our teams are going to lose. We both have teams that have 3 wins and 1 loss.

This means that we have been wrong 75% of the time, yet we insist on being upset because our hopes are dashed.....

I think you can follow that.......it's nuanced.....

I think they sell it very profitably to the Long Island/CapeCod/Nantucket French Millionaires.

We both know that despite early winning records, our teams will decide to quit in another few weeks, claiming that the progress shown this year shows that they are on the right track and that only (pick one or more of the following) injuries/officiating/bad luck/astroturf/natural grass/hot weather/cold weather/inexperience/players too old/unfortunate planetary alignment/miasmas/comet sightings/ kept them from making the playoffs.

As for our hopes being dashed, that is not what is upsetting. What upsets is that each year we climb back on board with the sure and certain knowledge that after a month or so the inevitable ineptitiude of our fearless warriors will become painfully obvious.
