Ohhhhhhh - I just saw the good hiking photo!
Maybe I'm crazy, but I hate to shop. We have a Nordstrom here about a 10 minute drive away, but I can't remember the last time I was in that store. I do almost all of my clothing shopping on line. I have never liked to shop.
On the other hand, I loooove sporting goods stores and pawn shops that have nice selections of firearms.
That was taken at the nearby Pahaquarra Coppermines.
They're in New Jersey, and are not being worked.
That was on the rock face in the 'open pit' quarry on the hilltop.
There's adits (horizontal shafts) and a few boreholes about, but the place of most interest is the quarry.
Have some rather plain pics of the rocks themselves, but since there's nothing to judge from, it appears to be plain old rocks.
I am the cook.

Oh drat..
You pre-empted that move.
Well, let me add something here. I should have said I don't like to order online too much; I have to try things on since I'm so freakishly big :)
I am definitely not a huge shopper and am getting more and more agoraphobic as the West is getting more crowded. I can only take crowds in small doses, or there are "incidents". I have to go to the stores during off-hours. Two months ago I was in a Nordstrom in CA, and despite the shoe sale, only lasted about ten minutes because it was so crowded.
I didn't know there were ever copper mines in NJ. They are up and down AZ, but there may only be a couple still active. The deepest I've gone into the earth was to an old borate mine just outside of Death Valley.
I live in a crowded area, I guess that's one reason why I don't like to shop. I can't stand the hordes of people. Which Nordstom were you at?
San Francisco - Stonestown.
Oh my word, I always pictured Swervie as a little skinny dried up old man.

you should act like his mother.

That's a very nice one. I almost never go to SF anymore. I won't drive there, and BART is pretty obnoxious. The closest Nordstrom to me is in Walnut Creek, and it's a pretty nice shopping center.
*L* It's an 80s spoof band! The guy in the blue shirt is my friend's husband. I drive them to gigs often because I have the van and we can all ride together with the equipment. That is not Mr Too Young..... he was playing across the street at the time.

My sister had to drive me, and I couldn't last long at all. It's not too far from my parents'. Unfortunately, I was in the City for my best friend's (from grammar and high school) funeral....
I remember Walnut Creek when it was a quiet little village with walnut trees and a nice plaza! BART used to be fun when it first opened; it was so futuristic and we'd ride around all day. Sadly, CA got way too crowded for me awhile back.
Sorry to hear about your friend - not a happy reason to visit.
I don't remember Walnut Creek from a time when it was a village - I moved here in 1993.
There's copper to be found in NJ, and zinc as well.
The Schuyler mine, started in 1719, is not too far from Newark NJ.
And East Orange sits on three other mines, just outside of Newark.
No-one knows exactly when the Phaquarra mine was originally worked.
There was a time during the colonial period that it was worked, but no references to it exist.
The Pahaquarra mines were last looked at in the 50's, but didn't have enough copper in the ore to be worth continuing with.
But it is a neat place to wander about.
Thank you :( Yeah, Walnut Creek was nice... I'm surprised to hear there are still gun stores in the Bay Area - you mean the libs haven't banned them yet?
