What's the best movie music of all time? John Williams and Star Warsor all the hits from Chicagohow about Joplin's rags from The Sting or the opening scene from 2001? I know I like the renditions of the Navy Hymn from The Perfect Storm you have to be hard hearted not to get a lump in your throat during that scene, and the rendition in The Crimson Tide. So Drama, musicals, Comedies, chick flicks, westerns, SciFi, etc. which movie has the best music? What's your vote?
"Gladiator" still thrills me and I have clear visions of the scenes listening to the tracks.
Strength and Honour(Maximus had a British accent, lol)
A ton of scores by the recently-deceased Jerry Goldsmith, including: Star Trek-The Motion Picture (I don't even like Star Trek), The Ghost and the Darkness, Patton, Rudy, First Knight and The Wind and the Lion
Signs--contemplative and cool sense-of-wonder score by James Newton Howard; he wrote one of the most beautiful end titles for the lousy movie Flatliners
American Beauty--Thomas Newman
Obsession--Bernard Herrmann
The Magnificent Seven--the also recently-deceased Elmer Bernstein
The Big Country--Jerome Moross, including the great horse-chase scene, worth the price of the CD alone
Dances With Wolves--John Barry
King of Kings--Miklos Rozsa
Seven and The Lord of the Rings--Howard SHore; the first one of the creepiest scores ever, the second one of the most varied and beautiful
Bed of Roses--Michael COnvertino, a great ambient score by the most underused composer in Hollywood
Ack, I'm just getting warmed up, I'll leave it at this or I'll be here all night.
Second that.
I still have the LP somewhere.
I'd like to see the movie on DVD.
'The Untouchables' is another fine Ennio Morricone score, probably the best film composer ever.
I watched that movie last weekend. The music was just perfect for the scene where they go into the gun room.
Haven't seen it yet. I haven't had much time for movies lately.
The Music Man - 76 Trombones - Robert Preston
The Sound Of Music - Julie Andrews
Spawn - OST
Little Big Man
Last of the Mohicans
Oh Brother Where Art Thou
And any thing scored by Ry Cooder.
It was a hymn from We we Soldiers that played at the Reagan funeral.
It was both--the song from WE Were Soldiers and Jerusalem were both played at the funeral.
Cross Post.
Anything by John Williams...his best Jaws!.
Wolfgang Korngold isn't bad either.
Yeah it is...
I like the heavy music too...it fits that movie great
Top Gun
It's a great CD to listen to in the car.
10 Things I Hate About You
That's got great rock for us 'chicks'
The Guns of Navarone is a great film and was released on DVD over three years ago. I know - I picked mine up the day it came out! :-)
