Thread III: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/1311311/posts |

Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads . And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?
A few of us thought it would be interesting and informative to have a chat thread where we can share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the last thread we had a great time and were a great help to each other working through lessons and training, horse lamenesses and illnesses, questions and challenges and always just our stories we like to tell.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the last thread, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.
I can't speak for everyone but my posts are meant for anyone interested. I used to type in all but it was cumbersome.
Well black points are dominant (black legs, mane, tail) and white is dominant (stockings, blazes, etc). This is according to all of my research on genetics trying to come up with a sure fire way to get color in my appaloosas.
According to me, it's a crap shoot :) but I wish you both lots of luck.
I think Michael has moved since the last time I saw him. I found a new website www.michaelbrichardson.com He used to live in Decatur but I think he's in Hico, Texas now.
The perfect t-shirt for me is the one with the bull on the front that says "does not play well with others" :)
Thanks, I'll go to that web site.
Yeah i know and I've seen a horse owner very disappointed and sell a foal because he didn't meet expectations. Sad, but business sense, I guess. As for me, it would be like , "look at this, I'll be darn". (In my eyes there are no ugly horses. Some just have more charecter than others:')
His facility is beautiful. It doesn't look like he has books or tapes available yet, but he does give seminars. And, cool thing - one of his sponsors is Purina. I think my son has had dealing with them getting donations. Maybe he has a name I can contact to ask them to pay part of the fee.
You are so right, and seeing that foal and working and teaching it is just incredible. I'm as proud of my four legged babies as my two legged. And I've been know to cry when my baby has a baby.
I watched a bull fight once on TV - I just can't handle them. I really hate to see them die, it seems so wrong after they fight so hard.
If it was someone hunting or butchered an animal for food I wouldn't have a problem with it. To taunt before you kill though........
Yes, I have no problem with hunting, although I don't, hubby does, and we eat what he gets. And I'm not a vegetarian at all, although I'd rather buy a side of beef or pork if I could than through the supermarkets.
It just seems like in bull-fighting, after the entertainment, they ought to let him go. :)
I just looked over Michael's new website and I can't figure out where he is. His barn and business used to be in Decatur but now the website talks mostly about the facility in Hico, but one of the pictures was the Decatur barn. I'm stumped. I hope he still has his place in Decatur, Hico is too far for me to go for help.
Anyway, his phone numbers and email address are on his website so I don't think you need me as a go-between. You can sure tell him I referred you, just tell him Brenda the bareback paint rider and he'll know who you are talking about.
Will do - thanks for letting me use your name.
I got the impression from the website that he is in Hico now, but maybe he has both places.
Is the Cowboy cooking Chilli, or what? :')
Don't know about Cowboy but not me, as it is still too warm and turkey day is almost here.
And you keep that rain out there with you...... : )
Great Pictures! Thanks for posting them. You can tell the young man is really a horse lover. He's got a grin on his face so big that if he died right now, the undertaker wouldn't be able to pry it off his face.
Heh:), I have that transfer:) It is a popular one.
Becky
Good morning.
Still raining here....still:(
Oh well, I wouldn't have been riding anyway, hunting season.
Becky
You didn't butt in:). IMO, anything posted open on the open board is there for all/anyone to answer.
