Thread III: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/1311311/posts |

Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads . And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?
A few of us thought it would be interesting and informative to have a chat thread where we can share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the last thread we had a great time and were a great help to each other working through lessons and training, horse lamenesses and illnesses, questions and challenges and always just our stories we like to tell.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the last thread, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.
HOWEVER I'm teaching my grandkids that they can be whatever they want:')
Wow, it's hard enough just to get to the interview stage. Keeping the positive outlook and self esteem is nearly the hardest part though, college sorta leaches it all out of you.
There you go. That's exactly what you need to do, IMO. If you have to leave her over night, I would.
Becky
Well it was a beautiful, beautiful day here. Heather and I had a good ride.
But:(, the weather in the last hour is makeing some changes, getting cloudy and dark. We are suppose to have a cold front come thur. 58 high tomorrow, but then back to the 70's for the weekend. From the looks of things now, they got tomorrow right, just hope the rest of the forecast is too.
Empress: good to have you back.
Becky
I just hope Monday nice. I have a 3 day weekend.
I just got home, looked out the window and she's just standing there, calm as a cucumber. If she was still bouncing around I would definitely leave her overnight. This was a really good idea. Thanks for the help, everybody. I'm still going to pasture her by herself, though. As Barney Fife says, "Nip it! Nip it in the bud!"
Are you back to marketing Harley again?
We got the top rail on the stall wall up, and some other unseen things like moving the fence charger and power supply lines out of the way of the new doors and reconnecting the fence. The 'zap' on the fence had been really weak of late, and we were kindof perplexed as to why... well, the ground wire had become disconnected from the rods and was just laying on the ground.... so now it's back hooked up right and zaps real good!
And we let Miss Cyn in to check out the new stalls.
She thinks there is something very wrong with the mangers! ;~D
Super progress!
VERY funny!
It's music :')
Uh oh, a setback. To feed my other horses I put the mare in a round pen next to the barn. When I brought them up, the mare went a little nuts, running around the round pen and whinnying. What's funny is my geldings completely ignored her. One didn't even go by for a nose-touch, just went straight to the barn. I went to her, though, and comforted her, and she stayed right next to me.
She'll settle down in time I bet... New place, she wants to bond with somebody ;~D
And I think the tying out will teach her that getting all worked up doesn't help.
Good. Yeah I would pasture her alone too. I'd tie her up a few more days too, just for reenforcement. Then see how she does when you ride.
Becky
Great pictures, she looks like a really pretty mover.
Yes, and no about marketing Harley. He is still for sale, but I haven't really advertised it anywhere, except on that internet site. I haven't gotten any response yet. Haven't figured out how to make a picture small enough to post one. Did you by chance miss the post where I asked you and ecurbh about that, or did I miss a reply??? I hate to bother you with it, just wondering.
Becky
We did miss the post.... we'd be happy to resize a pic for you. It's easy!
Hope your grand-dad's procedure and recover go really well.
Ouch on your hands... but no stitches needed?
