In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of word for the day. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the word of the day; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. ;-) Practice makes perfect.....post on....
 plaudit \PLAW-dit\,noun:
 plaudits; noun, plural
 1. A round or demonstration of applause.
 2. Enthusiastic approval; an expression of praise.
The aim of the wise man was no longer the plaudits of the masses but autarkeia, or self-sufficiency.
--Peter France, Hermits: The Insights of Solitude
Etymology: Latin plaudite, "applaud" (said by players at the end of a performance), from plaudere, "to applaud."
How far by land??
I missed it! The thread's been pulled. What was it?
guy in Spain sued his wife bc she refused him sex for 5 consecutive days....you can imagine what a moneymaker that would be...: )
That's a sad way for someone to make money. Wait, just imagine what you could get out of Hillary...
Maybe he needs to take a shower more than once a month?
No fair!

Older women like whyisa put out too!

They put out the dog, put out the trash, put out the fire, put out the mail ....

(Or was that "male" Robt wondered...)
Dunno. Ya gotta ask xsex - She's one of them there lawyer types ...
Course, then again, she would just blow you off by claiming bono was a conjugative adjective describin' the pre-copulative state of affairs ...
I'm really not sure.

Go to Mapquest and plug in your town and Chincotague - that will tell you.
Morning! I've been reading since 5:00, and hubby is working on the power brakes of the El Camino-there seems to be a vacuum line loose.

Several of us on the road have been feeding the 16 year old boy up the road, as his mother has apparently gone off the deep end again-she's been shacked up with a new boyfriend for nearly a week in the city and has not brought him any food, lunch money, etc-the young man is totally disgusted with her this time, rather than worried, as are all of us-honestly, the way she acts, I sometimes have to look at the houses on the road in the morning to be sure they haven't turned into trailers overnight. In addition, I am feeding their cat because she hasn't brought any food for him, either. I told the boy that if she can't provide for the cat, I will take it and give it a good home-it is a beautiful, big neutered gray tabby, and not afraid of dogs.
Good grief - that woman is certifiable.

If I remember correctly, isn't one of your neighbors is an attorney. Since the boy is 16, what about emancipation? As opposed to him getting put into the system........
Heaven loves you, for taking care of those left. I spent the morning walking dogs and gardening. I have the afternoon for kids sports. The weather is picture postcard gorgeous here today. Saw a few hot-air balloons out this morning.
Yes-that neighbor is the attorney we use-she is also one of the neighbors providing meals to the young'un. She said last night that since he is nearing his 17th birthday, CPS will not bother with him, thank God, so we don't have to hide him like the last time she went off the deep end. She called this morning about the letter she is writing to the roofing contractor, and told me that the boy's uncle in Dallas had called her to discuss removing the boy from his mother's clutches-it seems that he and his other sister and brother are willing to move him to Dallas and pay his tuition to a private school there, and that the boy very much wants to go. Should that come to pass, he may need to be emancipated, but she said the uncle and siblings want to get the boy to a better environment with as little pain and distress to their sister as possible-she said they are well aware that she is bi-polar, and "not well emotionally"-the brother told her that his sister had been in a psychological treatment center twice in the past after what he called emotional breakdowns and a suicide attempt. I hope that this works-my neighbor said when she asked the boy why he was so keen on leaving his mother, he told her he was afraid of what she might do next, "tired of all the drama", and that he was being taunted at school by classmates telling him that his mother is a whore, slut, and c*** who f***s anything in pants who can pay her price. Sweet Jesus, you'd think the selfish bitch would at least bear in mind that this is a small community where any hint of scandal becomes common knowledge by the end of the day, especially with kids who hear their parents talking about that stuff-she can't possibly be blind to the fact that her son is being hurt by her behavior. I have told her several times that in my opinion as a casemanager, she should check herself into a treatment center for at least 30 days of intensive counseling and possible anti-depressants, but she is adamantly opposed to that, and won't hear of it. I usually favor counseling over psychotropic drugs, but I think she is too far over the edge for it to work right now-if she gets anything stressful thrown at her at this point, I can see her attempting suicide, and that would be terrible.
I just can't stand to see kids or animals abandoned-and animals can't even ask for help, except by just showing up on a doorstep and hoping someone feeds them and gives them a place to sleep. There is no excuse for this woman's behavior, even if she is a raving loon.

Partly cloudy and 81 here-I hope hubby finishes the vacuum line repair by lunchtime so we can go to a new junk shop my neighbor that is the lawyer told me was really great-it is on the outskirts of Kerrville on the Hunt highway-if he gets finished soon enough, we could go see what all they have-that neighbor's recommendations on junk shops are usually right.
Thank goodness for the sanity of the relatives.........and for you neighbors looking out for the boy.
It's grey and dreary here and only 70 here......soup and sandwich kind of day. which is exactly what we're having for lunch...grilled swiss sandwiches and Progresso Roast chicken italiano soup.

I love junk stores..........the one I rally, really liked up the road closed about 6 months ago. I was never able to drive past the place without stopping in to see what they had that was new.
820 miles
didn't know it was that far - but you did ask for suggestions !!! ;)
that poor boy has been through so much with that lowrent mother of us. you guys are so good to take care of him.
had my dye job first thing, but feel like i am coming down pretty definitely with a cold, didn't sleep well. so i am making soup for myself for lunch also.
xshub had assigned me our big walkin closet as my project for the day, clearing out stuff that i am not wearing, getting rid of shoes (he used the word Imelda, harrumph!) i have a pile of crap in there and all i have to do now is bag it up.
I am usually the one that hands out the chore assignments in this house. But we're done with chores for the day....it's one of those dreary days where you feel like doing nothing more than curl up with a book.....but since I'm currently out of rading material - I'm playing a silly online game until Jax gets out of tub and then we're heading for some shopping.
