In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of word for the day. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the word of the day; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. ;-) Practice makes perfect.....post on....
plaudit \PLAW-dit\,noun:
plaudits; noun, plural
1. A round or demonstration of applause.
2. Enthusiastic approval; an expression of praise.
The aim of the wise man was no longer the plaudits of the masses but autarkeia, or self-sufficiency.
--Peter France, Hermits: The Insights of Solitude
Etymology: Latin plaudite, "applaud" (said by players at the end of a performance), from plaudere, "to applaud."
I'm telling you she was very young - that filty mouth plus attacking on her first day here......... lol
i guess when you are young, you assume all women put out?
darn, I miss all the fun.
When you are young and liberal you assume all of us are stupid.........lol.........
Could you believe the F*@#*&% mouth on that b*#($?
I had just hit reply to ask if she kissed her Mommy with that filty mouth and realized the thread had been pulled........
she was a CHARMER!
I didn't see the pulled thread, but I suppose that the troll was too young to know that many women have been using sex as a weapon since the beginning of time. I've also known men who did, too, but they lack the inherent finesse of women who wield that weapon. I much prefer glares and silence as weapons in domestic disagreements myself.
I suppose we will be treated to a show from the next door neighbors this evening-he has been out of town on business all week, and will be home this evening, and as I was coming down the road after work, a big delivery truck from an expensive furniture store in SA was just pulling away from their house. I'm grilling steaks for supper tonight, so I'll get to hear the starting bell, and as loud as they are, we'll be able to hear the action while we eat at the kitchen table, if we open the windows. If it is still going on after dinner, we can sit on the side deck behind the lattice and vines and catch the last rounds. I'd better make some popcorn and make sure there's plenty of cold beer-their arguments when she makes a purchase like that are usually marathons...
Kerry has certainly done all he can to damage morale for the dems and his campaign, I can't imagine what he would do for the country or our troops.
We only thought X42 was bad-ketchup boy is evil incarnate, and he hates the military unless he can scam them...
I always miss all the FR fun on Friday afternoons........
I've got a bit of time - kidlet is in the tub and hubby has gone to get beer and pick up the Chinese we ordered for dinner (I made the decision I wasn't cooking tonight)
I have to tell you all - we had one of the best Friday afternoons we have had in a long.
We went to our favorite place on the water over on Chincoteague. We hadn't been there 15 minutes when this guy came over to us to say hello - turns out to be a buddy of ours from Dover who moved to Ohio with his wife (because of her job) more than 5 years ago. They bought a place on the island for vacationing until she retires and so he is spending 5 months a year here.
Long story short - we are going to store his boat here for him for the winter, with full use of it!!!
Hubby is on vacation net week and we were planning to rent a boat on Wednesday (weather permiting) to go fishin - no rental fee - we'll pay the food, beer and gas bill and the 3 of us will go. Also he's going to join us for my B'day party next Friday!!!
well my spring rolls and hot & our soup has arrived - I'm hungry.
Talk later.
Sounds like a great afternoon-especially the part about the friend and the boat deal. Enjoy your chinese!
Any ideas on where CG & I can go next weekend? We were supposed to go to Destin Fri-Tue, and that is definitely hosed, screwed, f'd, blown, out, down the crapper...........:(
Chinese was WONDERFUL!!!!!!
Just got hung up on by a pollster - calling from Quebec and trying to deny he was in Canada......torques me off to no end when pollsters or telemarketers will not at least be honest up front. I'll respond to any telephone poll, as long as I know who is calling and who they are calling for.
When I told this guy he had 30 seconds to tell me who he was polling he hung up on me.
As hubby said - that's why the lefty polls always say what they want them to say - they won't talk to anyone who questions them.
Let's see if I remember my Latin:
"Pro" means "for"
"Bono"... hm, is that the genitive or the dative case? Or is that the nomative case for a copulative verb?
Bono is the front man for U2.
Chincoteague, VA
and it's my Birthday!!!!!
Bono is the front man for me as well.
